2008

A zap of static jolted him awake, bringing him back to life. An ounce of aggressive streak could be visibly seen in his dark yellow eyes. He roughly sat up and threw himself onto the cold floor, detaching the tubes and wires infused under his skin. He looked around the white square room, lights dimmed, and momentarily stared at the beeping monitor. Looking down on his bare chest, he could tell there was something foreign inside him, triggering some rage he thought he never had.

He sniffed with his sharp nose and instantly grimaced at the smell lingering the area. He was wearing nothing aside from black boxer shorts, his thick eyebrows were drawn as he tried to put pieces of memory together. But no, he remembered nothing.

He snapped his head up the moment a faint sound of breathing reached his delicate ears. Startled, he slowly stood up, guard up. He was poised for a fight, his wild eyes enraged, ready to pounce anyone in his vicinity.

He was territorial, instinctive in a way. A growl erupted from his throat the moment he found the man at the corner who was watching him, looking frightened.

Menacingly, he walked toward the threat as he approached him like he was his prey. Hunger seemed to strike his stomach hard, his mind in complete focus to go for the kill.

"S-stop," the man stuttered as he backed away.

Another deep growl bloomed from him, breathing heavily, his head cocked in a certain angle without breaking eye contact. Without hesitation, he strode fast toward the frightened man and pinned him to the floor, showing his bare teeth.

"Stop!" the man ordered, eyes wide with horror. "Taren, stop!"

He closed his mouth at the sound of his name and composed himself, still not letting his guard down. Confusion started to cloud the boy's eyes. Moments had passed and he was still on top of the man, caging him with his muscled arms.

"You're a good boy, Taren," the man tried to soothe him. "Good boy."

Taren briefly blew his nose and stared at the man, seeing his own reflection staring back at him. His wild yellow eyes turned into warmest of brown, as he finally remembered the sound of the man's voice. The pieces of puzzle he was trying to put together earlier began to solve itself, showing him the situation.

As everything clicked together, Taren looked up, and unexpectedly, he let out a high octave howl under the Red Moon.
