It was Sunday, two days after they all returned from Miami. Zac and Fatima had not had a chance to speak much since returning home. When Zac got home. He was greeted by the letter from the lawyers Jordan mentioned. The letter informed Zac that his father would be up for parole in 5 months. The letter bothered Zac to his core. Not because his father was up for parole, but because the letter addressed Zac as the family member of the victim. He had never once thought of his mother as a victim to his Father's crime. After all, Zac knew how much his father loved his mother. Zac tried too shake off the feeling. He hung the letter on his refrigerator to remind himself to call the number provided to find out more on the process. The next thing he was faced with was an almost immediate deadline set by the chancellor's office. They were requesting that Zac submit a 250 word biography and photo as part of the celebration. As much as he loved teaching he hated trying to tell people about himself and was struggling.
A few blocks away, Fatima was scheduling doctor's appointments as recommended by the doctors in Miami. She was punching the air for not emptying her refrigerator before she left and now she had to both clean and restock it with only one good hand before Seven returned in two days. She called Lauren to see if she could help her but Lauren picked up two private bartending gigs for extra cash and wouldn't be able to get over until the following day.
"Hey siri. FaceTime Zac!" Fatima commanded, the phone rang a few times before he answered.
"Hey Tima. Everything good? "Zac answered into the phone.
"Hey, where are you?" She asked looking at the unfamiliar place on his screen. Zac's face was also not in view.
"I'm on the floor in my bedroom."
"Why?" She asked with her face screwed up in confusion.
"I needed a distraction so I'm doing pushups."
"Oh great. So that means you aren't busy. I have an idea. How about you bring your laptop and ill help you write your bio while you help me clean my fridge?"
"T that's mad random." Zac said stopping his pushups to go find the phone.
Fatima ran down her issues with Zac and he agreed to come by. "OK. Just make your Instacart order and I'll be over shortly."
"Oh, can you also bring Chinese, please? I'm hungry."
"What's new?" he laughed thinking about how Fatima was always hungry. "Ok. Give me like an hour."
They hung up and Zac finished his workout. He started to just throw on his hoodie and shorts and go over to her house but then it dawned on him. This would be his official first time really in her house. He dropped them off and of course, came in for a few minutes here and there after a grocery shopping trip. But this was his actual first time being invited to hang out. He hopped in the shower, making sure he used his expensive in-shower products twice before he got out. Zac stood staring at his closet unsure of what to wear. For some reason, he was nervous about seeing her. The night they returned from the trip, the uber waited as Zac helped each lady with their bags to their door for a hefty tip. Before closing the door behind herself, Fatima surprised Zac by kissing him. It was her first time doing so. It wasn't a little baby peck of a kiss either. That kiss said 'I know the car is waiting but..let it wait'. He smiled all the way back to the car. Zac settled on one of the t-shirts the girls hadn't stolen, and a basic pair or shorts, his jewelry and touched up his fade before walking out the door. He didn't want to do too much considering he knew he was going over there to clean. He drove the quick fifteen minutes to her house and found parking a block away which was great for NYC. He ran down the block to her favorite Chinese take out spot and ordered their usual.
