"Mommy look what Santa got me!"

Winnie acted fake surprised when Leon showed her his brand new bucket filled with dinosaurs. Leon didn't stay on it for long before going to the next present and ripping the wrapping paper off it. It was Christmas and it was one of the many holidays that Winnie was always anxious about. The gifting part was never an issue. Every year, her and Ke'Ann went all out with the gifts for Leon.

Their living room filled with gifts that took all night to wrap. Only for that same wrapping paper to be ripped up by the hands of a four year old and everywhere in the living room. The cleanup was overbearing but was worth it to see the smile on their son face. Winnie leaned back against the couch, rubbing her stomach while she continued to watch Leon hop from gift to gift. He opened one, shouted at her to look, she acted surprised, then Leon went to the next. And he still had about thirty gifts under their white Christmas tree to open up.

Christmas music was heard, causing Winnie to look back. A smile started to form on her face when she saw Ke'Ann holding a speaker in the air while coming down the stairs, wearing their custom pajamas. Papa Elf was what his shirt said. Mama Elf on her shirt and Little Elf on Leon's. They had to keep up their tradition. Ke'Ann walked over and plopped on the couch beside her, resting the speaker on the coffee table.

"Daddy look!" Leon yelled to grab his attention. He held up a Nerf gun, Winnie's smile dropping instantly.

"He's not keeping that," she muttered so only Ke'Ann heard her.

"We'll keep it in the house." Ke'Ann told her. She shook her head, thinking of possible places to hide it. She didn't play about guns and she be damned if Leon had one.

"How are you?" Ke'Ann asked, turning to look at her after leaning back on the couch.

"I'm alright. A bit nervous about later on tonight." She answered.

She was hosting Christmas dinner for the first time. Usually Aaliyah or her parents were the ones doing it but Winnie wanted to take the responsibility this time in hope of making peace. And telling the big news that she was pregnant. Again. She barely got any sleep last night since she spent the time prepping the food and thinking about how she was going to tell the news. She wanted it to be cute so it could possibly keep the tension down. But she had a feeling that wouldn't even matter.

It wasn't her family business but keeping something such as a pregnancy secret was impossible. Eventually, her parents would figure it out. And if they had to find out on their own their reactions were going to be far worse. Winnie was trying her hardest to keep this dinner as peaceful as possible. That's all she wanted.
