IN THE PAST HOURS, the occupants within the frigid manor had been tense, walking on the rocks to avoid the freezing temperatures of the river beneath them. The day many had long-awaited had arrived and the Lord couldn't have been more curt if he tried, it was nothing the death eaters had seen before. For hours, everyone held their breath, praying that with every move they made, the Lord would not see a fault and hex them.
At long last, as the clock struck midnight on the 26th of April, a sudden wail echoed throughout the corridors, carrying through the floors to those down below, waiting with bated breath. The cry was music to the ears.
He was here.
Or so commonly thought, because it was not an heir but rather an heiress. The following howl would be the heir.
She was a gorgeous baby whose little brown curls framed her face, emerald eyes gleaming with life. She laid on her back within the confinements of her bassinet, her little hands trying desperately to grasp the figure beside her.
He looked almost identical to her despite being the total opposite gender. The baby beside her had matching brown curls and chocolate brown eyes identical to hers. Together they lay there, her trying so hard to grab onto him while he lay there smirking at her attempts.
A light chuckle emitted above them as he watched the two babies already having their first one-sided play fight.
Above them stood a man who looked to be no older than thirty-seven, his hair short and came in curls— just like the twins, however, theirs appeared to be brushed out in a wave-like style. The man had dark grey eyes that could easily be mistaken for a dark brown.
His chuckle had come out light and airy despite his—usually— rather raspy voice.
"Not even a day old and already showing great promise," he chuckled to himself, his lips stretched in a wide grin. "Maizelle Mallory Riddle and Matthew Thomas Riddle. One daughter, one son. Twins." He whispered, his grin turning into a smirk. "My children," his eyes glowed with excitement as he sat there in the dark. "You... will be the key to our future."
"Oh, my children..." A small hand grasped his cloak, his eyes melting from their cold glare. The girl stared back. "how together... we shall take over the wizarding world."
