"Dada"

"Dada"

"Dada"

Bam! The door flew open colliding with the wall.

"Dada!" a young girl sat upright, clapping in her crib. The lights were out and the drapes were pulled shut. She was meant to be sleeping but no sleep was coming. For hours she laid still, peering up at the ceiling. Growing bored, she tried hard to get someone's attention. Cooing and moving around but no one came.

Every day she watched as these tall figures moved about while she remained still so she tried to give it a try. Maybe if she moved someone would come. She struggled for a bit but eventually, she moved to roll onto her stomach.

She couldn't move.

She was stuck, her face pushed into the mattress. Her breathing became erratic as she began to panic. Tears slowly streamed down her face as she began becoming short of breath. Flailing her arms about, she pounded her arms against the cushiony fabric. Then it clicked and she began pushing herself off of the mattress. One last push and she managed to send herself falling over onto her back— right where she began. This time, however, she was placed right beside the wall of her crib. Grabbing ahold she slowly began to pull herself upwards into a sitting position.

She had done it but still, no one was there! Going through what little she could remember, she remembered viewing all these people move their mouths. Sound came out every time but she had no clue what it meant.

"Dada" He pointed to himself. "Repeat after me Maizelle. Dada. Da-da. Daaa-daaaa."

"Dada"

"Dada"

"Dada"

And that seemed to be the key as he came flying through the doorway. She began clapping excitedly. "Dada" she screamed with laughter but the man didn't match her energy. He simply stared at her with wide eyes the size of saucers.

"Whot?" he claimed with astonishment.

"Dada" the three-month-old claimed, pointing at the brunette before her.

"Yes... Yes, dada! I'm dada!" he exclaimed, a huge smile etching itself onto his features.
