It felt like everything stopped. Time, the world, everything. Mateo is lying. Ethan wouldn't do this to me, or would he? I felt my memory the past few months all crumble down into one miserable lie. Everything I've ever believed about Ethan became nothing. I felt numb and desperation to disappear. "I'd understand if you don't believe me, but let me tell you," Mateo continues, "I didn't think you'd trust Ethan as much as you did." "I don't believe you, Ethan would never." I snapped back. I was lying. Sorta. Mateo was right, but I couldn't give him that satisfaction. I was deceived by Ethan, everything that's happened has finally added up but, for some reason, apart of me is holding on to hope that Ethan didn't do this.
Sure, it wasn't a lot of hope but it was there. Mateo then slapped me hard, so hard my lip started to bleed. I could taste the metallic penny taste you get from blood. I knew deep down, I was going to die. I know what Mateo is capable of and honestly, it scares me. Out of nowhere, the door creaks open a little and behind it, is a recognizable build. Along with a recognizable scent. Ethan. He slowly walks in, with a bandage on his forehead and some cuts on his face. His clothes are dirty, yet he still manages to look amazing as ever. "Mateo, leave us." Ethan speaks. I don't look at Ethan anymore with endearing eyes or a cheerful smile. As my eyes start to water, they're now filled with pain and sadness. "Ethan don't try anything, you know what happened last time you tried to help a girl." Mateo replies as he gets up to leave. Ethan closes the door and slowly starts to walk towards me. I want to tell him to stay away but I can't. I can't speak. Ethan takes a seat next to me and turns to look at me. My throat starts to burn. "Why?" "That's what you're thinking, isn't it?" He asked. And he was right. "Yes, you're right, why did you do this to me?" I replied with a shaky voice. I-
My eyes widened, practically bursting out of my head. I shut them so fast. My eyes were shut for a couple of seconds but it felt like hours, like they were glued shut. I felt my butt start to feel wet, like I sat in a bath filled with water. I open my eyes and it's not water. It's red, dark, and thick. It's blood. My eyes follow the way the blood's coming from, all the way up Ethan's body, ending at his neck. Mateo looked at me with blood splattered on his face, and a bloody knife in his hand. "Sorry you had to see that, Ethan talks too much." Mateo said. Mateo left the room, leaving Ethan's lifeless body in front of me. Scared is not what I was feeling anymore. My body went into shock, I couldn't move a single muscle. Mateo came back into the room with clothes in his hand. "Here, change, you stink." He said. "No, what does it matter to you if I stink or not, get away from me!" Was I even more fearful because I just yelled at him, yes. But i've got nothing to lose anymore. Mateo threw the clothes at me and I threw them right back at him. "I'm not putting on those stupid clothes, Mateo!" I yelled. Mateo looked angry. He came over to me and stuck something in my arm. "Don't worry Rox, you'll be back up in couple of hours."
