"Inspector Park, the driver is dead."
"What?" Jimin's shock was evident in his voice, how could a man who tried to kill someone die right after being arrested?
"How did he die?" Jimin asked.
"He was handcuffed and was sitting on a chair, we went out for a moment and he was gone."
"I asked how, as in what was the cause of his death? Did he choke or stab himself?" His annoyance was clear in his voice while Jungkook stood beside him, intently listening to the conversation.
"There's a poison dart on his neck..." the cop said, he seemed shocked himself, as if he hadn't noticed it before Jimin's question.
"Now what work did you bastards have to leave him unattended?"
"Sir, I- I'm sorry but it was only a moment-" Jimin cut him off saying, "These moments of recklessness are the things that give those killers chances!"
"Sorry sir." The cop sounded shameful.
"Now listen carefully, and obey. Anyone who came near the police station within 15 minutes before or after this incident shall remain there. No leniency or negligence now. Got it?"
"Yes sir!" Jimin could almost feel the cop saluting him.
"What happened hyung? Who died?" Jungkook asked him, his curiosity already peaking.
"The driver who attacked you. There was a poison dart on his neck. These fools left him unattended and that's the result. I wanted to kill him myself," he said the last part in a mumble, but it was as true as it could be. He wanted to rip that man to shreds for harming his best friend.
"Hyung, rush! Let's go there now!" Jungkook was quiet for a while, thinking something. But as soon as he snapped out of it, he was rushing towards the car, the stabs or bruises on his limbs no longer mattered, it was as if he found something he had been searching for ages.
"Yah! Jeon Jungkook! You're wounded! Calm down idiot!" Jimin ran behind him, shouting out loud. The people who were entering or leaving the hospital looked at them weirdly.
The moment Jimin's eyes captured Jungkook sitting on the driver's seat, he scurried towards the car to yeet his friend away.
"Whatever it is, I won't let you drive." Jimin held the car door."I don't wanna be Jimin today, just let me." Jungkook tried to pull the door towards himself.
"No, you're injured."
"It's important, just shut up and sit." Jungkook pulled the door and slammed it shut on Jimin's face.
He started driving out of the parking, leaving Jimin behind. It made the older mad and he ran behind the car. Funny how the car didn't belong to any of them.
After a little while, the car came to a halt and Jimin opened the door to the passenger's seat. He hadn't even closed the door when Jungkook started driving again. Jimin was really mad and he was visibly sulking, the younger wasn't listening to him at all."Hyung, look I'm sorry but it's urgent." Jungkook glanced at his friend for a moment.
The car's speed heightened, it was as if Jungkook was a formula 1 racer. Jimin had trouble sitting properly but it was the least of his troubles, he had to reach the police station as soon as he could.
After a wild drive, they reached the police station. Jungkook rushed in, immediately starting to search for the driver. The driver; whose name was Jason as he learnt recently; was sitting on a chair with handcuffs. There was a poison dart on his neck that remained untouched.
Jungkook cautiously observed the room, the setting that could have let the murder happen. It was clear that Jason was left unattended for a moment and that was his last moment. But where did the dart come from? There was no window, then how was it possible?
He was walking around the room when he stepped on something. As he bent down to pick it, he saw a tiny mirror, something that could be slipped from a crack in the wall.
Well, that's exactly what happened.
That mirror gave him the required clue, when he bent down to pick it up and the thought of a wall crack crossed his mind, he looked around all the walls of the room. There was a crack in the wall that had the surroundings on its other side.
He went towards that wall and crouched down to look through the crack, there was enough space to throw a dart and even aim. Though, as he had expected, he couldn't see anyone on the other side except the other building that was a few feet away.
"How careless are you guys?" He sighed as he looked at the cops who had their heads hung low. Jimin was still outside trying to find the culprit hidden amongst the visitors.
Jungkook realised that was a waste of time and ordered the people to go away, they didn't listen when Jimin asked them to stay still, everyone moved away.
"Did he hit you on the head?" Jimin taunted Jungkook while watching the retreating suspects.
"No, but I know how it happened and none of these visitors is responsible, so just let them leave." He shrugged and put his hands in his pockets. It was surprising how his blood stained clothes didn't bother him. So much had happened in a single day that he couldn't even recall it all.
"What? How did it happen? Tell me," Jimin asked impatiently.
Jungkook just signalled Jimin to follow him and went inside the room, he just showed his friend the crack in the wall. The two of them shared a knowing glance.
"Hyung, it's that serial killer, he had something to do with Jason and finished him off to erase his trail. Jason definitely knew something about him," Jungkook said as he got up and walked out.
Soon enough, a team of prosecutors came in and took away anything that could make up for evidence. The man's dead body was also taken for the post mortem report, they had to know what poison it was.
"But how are we gonna find the killer now that Jason's gone?" Jimin asked.
"It's gonna be risky, but I have an idea."
