Hours went by since Charlie's kidnapping, and no possible leads were found.
Jay worked nonstop, trying to find any clues or evidence that can possibly help.
But one can only do so much with 2 pasted cutout letters of notes as evidence... And that's not a lot.
Jay's office was on the 4th floor of the building. His office was at the far end as it was the biggest one. Other higher officers in the department's offices were here as well.
David knocked slowly on Jay's office door, opening it as he saw Jay didn't give any reaction. He just sat reading the papers over and over.
His office was fairly large. His curtains were drawn closed, blocking the sunlight from peeking into his office.
His large desk was sat in the corner of the room, closest to the large windows. Numerous books were covering the bookshelves on his walls along with his medals he earned while serving in the military. A small sitting area was placed on the other side of the room with black leather couches and a coffee table in the middle of them.
The floor was tile, the unit's logo printed large on the floor.
The whole room screamed 'Commander'.
"Commander?" David asked slowly, coming to stand in front of his desk.
Jay didn't look up, he just sat reading the notes again. "Commander?" David called out again.
Only then it looked like Jay got snapped out of his thoughts. He stared wide-eyed up at David, not entirely registering he's standing in front of him.
"David... Sorry.. I didn't realize you were standing here." Jay sat back in his chair, sighing softly. "Have you found any leads yet?" Jay asks, hopeful but he doesn't show it.
David shakes his head, "Nothing, sir. No calls or anybody who possibly saw her."
Jay nods his head, not surprised by his answer.
"But sir, that is not why I came here." David says, a little apologetic. "I think it's time you take a break, sir. You've been nonstop at this for over 3 hours.."
Jay shakes his head, scoffing a little, "I can't take a break, David. That son of a bitch sure isn't taking a break with my wife!" He nearly shouts, he clenches his fist, trying to keep calm.
"I'm sorry..." Jay says as he closes his eyes, looking down to his desk.
"Don't apologize sir. Your reaction is normal due to the situation... But this is why I said you should have a break." David doesn't say anything further for awhile.
He stands in silence, just looking at Jay.
"Commander.. if you'd like.. I'm going to a make a stop at Evergreen High, if you want to join me.. get some fresh air y'know." David suggests, smiling a little.
Jay looks up at him questioningly, "Why at the high school? Your kids are in middle school."
David nods, "That is true. But I'm not going there for my kids.. it could help the case.."
That peaks Jay's attention.
"Tell me." Jay says, standing up from his chair.
"Charlie's brother, Dante Diaz works there.. he's a football coach and a Spanish Literature teacher there. I've been thinking we can ask him some questions.."
Jay freezes as he stares at David.
He remembers Dante clearly.
They hated each other.
