The dark forest was enveloped in an inky embrace. A thick canopy of ancient trees shrouded the moonlight, casting a tapestry of shadows on the forest floor. The air hung heavy with the scent of damp earth, and the occasional rustle of leaves echoed through the dense foliage. The symphony of nocturnal creatures, from the haunting hoots of owls to the distant calls of unseen insects, painted an eerie soundtrack.
The cool breeze carried the unmistakable scent of pine, its resinous fragrance mingling with the earthy aroma of moss-covered rocks. Each step on the leaf-littered ground released the distinct perfume of decaying foliage. The darkness was broken only by occasional glimpses of moonlight filtering through the tangled branches.
Occasional whispers of wind played with the leaves overhead, creating a symphony of rustling that resonated with the secrets hidden within the shadows. The sensation of unseen eyes watching coupled with the distant howls of creatures unknown.
"Before I was a butcher, I was a doctor, but also a collector. In my free time, I used to buy antiques. Some older than the entirety of the Landarthian Conquest"
Clive mused to himself, the rhythmic scrape of the blade against the grindstone echoing through the trees.
"And during the apocalypse, shortly after the bombs fell, I saw a mesmerizing sight. Two werewolf clans squared off in the forest. I've heard stories about them, told by one of my sellers who sold me this gun that fired pure Silver Bullets and this Silver Blade. I never believed him, but everything changed when I saw it with my own two eyes. Teeth against teeth. Claws against Claws. Flesh against bone. There was no victor and the ones who remained were too weak to chase me down. I knew I had to protect myself from them, I knew there was something more to this world than the undead. So I hid these silver weapons just in case. Now, I'm going to use it... for revenge"
"Father," a child approached Clive with measured steps.
"What is it, my dear?" Clive asked.
"We found them."
