The next day I watched Alex and his friends play basket ball while I pretended to read on a lawn chair. I guess I got bored because I found myself walking over to them.

I'm pretty good at basket ball but there are plenty of other girls better than me that made the team. I approached the boys and they stopped the game to watch me walk towards them. I felt my checks warming up. "Hey, mind if I play?" I asked them.

One of Alex's friends Josh responded first "Can you actually play and catch a ball or are you interested in some of this?" He pointed to himself and wiggled his brows at me. "Naw I bet I'm better than you." I blurted before I could think.

Eventually after Josh and I argued about who was better the boys let me join. "Aw shit!" Josh yelled as I scored another basket for my team. Alex's face lit up even brighter every time I scored for our team. To be honest I was having more fun than hanging out with my friends just by playing ball.

The ball bounced across the street and rolled down to the pond. "I got it slow pokes!" I yelled and bolted down the street.
