The Wallows. That's who they sounded like. Not my style but the band's music was, it was, refreshing and melodic nonetheless. I liked their slower, raw songs when you really felt the emotion in the voice. I smiled thinking about it.

I rounded the corner of the street, and there was our large brick residence hall Sterlings. The concert had ended, and I stayed a few seconds longer as they packed up before heading out myself. I pulled out my phone and went to text Willa.

"I went to go watch a live band at a pub. Proud of me?"

I'm sure she'd be asleep by now. It was almost 8pm here, meaning it was 1am over there.

I immediately put my hands back in my pockets and jogged to the door. It was freezing out here.

After a few rounds of chatter, I told Georgios I'd be back by Friday with a check for next weeks payment.

Georgios couldn't let them play for 2 hours, or wouldn't is the better word, insisting that I was doing enough already and to leave it at that.

Sunset Linings was scheduled for 3 more weeks, ok, 600$, and any other band would be up to me.

I'm sure I could find 8 bands by the end of 3 weeks. Anna definitely knew some people and I could always ask my sister about anyone she knew. And of course, Instagram.

I  felt my phone buzz and I looked down to see a phone call from the one girl I was just thinking of.

"What's up Adira?"

"Hello strangerrrr, you'd forget about me and my mom?"

I huffed out a laugh, "Noo Adiraa, I was just thinking of you you know."

"You better. You've been focusing on school?"

There was the older sister I had known. Adira was 5 years older than me and married. She was finishing up her medical residency in Switzerland while her husband worked in Dubai.

"Ehh, somewhat" I teased.

"Kalliassss"

"Yesss I have, what else would I be doing here in London?"

"Mmm, you know mom's been worried about you"

"Tell her I'll call her soon. I've been really busy this week, she knows" I replied.

The rest of the call was filled with usual upkeep and check ins, until the phone call ended and I was back to looking over at my desk, the large laptop screen shining bright.

Right. I still had to get Maya's number. I did have Caterine's number which I assumed might have Maya's number.
