At the end of the day

Chapter 6

Maddy's POV

I woke up to the sound of my phone ringing. It was my friend Brooklyn from back home wanting to FaceTime me. I swiped my screen to the right to answer. It connected and her mouth came to an instant smirk because of Matt. I didn't want to move because I didn't want to wake him up and plus he looked so cute when he sleeps. Brooklyn interrupted my thoughts. She said, "Everybody misses you back home especially James. He has been asking about ever since we told him you fled town." I rolled my eyes and started to laugh as quietly as possible.

James was the boy I used to talk to in my old town. But I told him that it wasn't going to work out between us and that we should just stay as friends. He agreed with me but deep down I knew that he was hurt a little....Maybe a lot.

My laugh was apparently not as quiet as I thought because when I looked down to see if Matt was still sleeping his eyes met mine. He smiled at me and then he started to blush when Brooklyn started awing in the background. I introduced them to one another then hung up on her because I realized that I had party to get ready for.

I stayed at Matt's while he got ready. He was wearing blue shorts, a white T-shirt, and vans. He can wear the simplest thing and look really attractive. He walked over to his nightstand and grabbed his phone from the charger and gestured his hand saying that it was time to go to my house. I walked up the stairs and then out the front door. We walked across the street together until we got to my porch. I unlocked the door and walked up stairs. Matt stood downstairs on his phone. I told him that I wouldn't be long and he nodded. I looked through my closet and got out Navy Blue and white floral romper and I put on my white converse. I had barely any makeup on so I decided to redo. I washed my face first so that my face didn't looked caked. I put on a little foundation, and mascara. Then I did my eyeliner and after a couple tries the wing came out even on both sides. I walked to my vanity in my room with all my perfume on it and I put on the Victoria's Secret Bombshell one because it was my favorite. I walked out of my room then downstairs, Matt looked up when he heard me. He said, "You look great." I smiled at him and said," Thanks."

"Are you ready to go." I heard Matt saying to me. "Yes, but instead of taking your car we are taking my families extra car." "Why are we going to do that?" "Because it a convertible and I like to drive in them during the summer." I said. "Good point, Lets go then." I heard him say with a little excitement in his voice. I handed him the keys and and he followed me to the garage. He unlocked the car doors and opened the passenger door for me. Once he got in he put the roof down in the car and I opened the garage door with my phone and we took off.

The drive seemed like it was taking forever. But I liked it. Long car rides calm me.

When we got there people were already drunk. Matt parked the car and we both got out. He took my hand and our fingers intertwined. We walked in and Matt introduced me to the host of the party. "Carter this is Maddy, Maddy this is Carter.", He said. Before I could say hi, this guy ran in the house yelling , "CARTERRRR!!!" "This is Cameron", Matt said while laughing. I looked and both Carter and Cameron and said hi. They said hi and then immediately looked down. I looked down too to see what they were looking at. That's when I realized that Matt and I were still holding hands. I felt myself starting to smile but tried to hide it as best as I could. Matt's hand let go of mine and he started to walk off and go into the backyard. I just stood there with Carter and Cameron because I didn't know anyone else there. They started to ask me questions to get to know me and I did the same for them. I liked them a lot and I could see my self being good friends with them. They put their numbers in my phone and told me that I could contact them whenever.

I decided that I would go find Matt. With all the people at this party I knew it could take me awhile. I walked to the backyard to see if he was there but he wasn't. I got handed a drink and sat down for awhile before trying to find him again. I got back up and walked into the house. I didn't see him anywhere on the bottom floor so I went upstairs to look for him. I opened one door to find Carter making out with some girl. I shut the door as quietly as possible so they didn't hear me. The next door that I opened was the bathroom door. I walked down the hallway a little more to find a door facing me. I opened it and there was stairs leading to an attic I guess. I heard laughter this made me walk up the flight of steps. When I got to the top of the stairs I saw Matt and Cameron playing video games with each other. I walked over to the couch where they were sitting and took the seat next to Matt. He looked at me for awhile and then went back to his game where he died. "You are very distracting , you know that?", He said. I laughed a little and said, "Yeah, I have been told." A confuse look came over Matt's face. "I'm just kidding." , I said. A smirk appeared across his face. And then he looked away and continued to play his game.

It was about 12am when Matt told me that it was time to leave. He took my hand and pulled me up and continued to hold my hand as we were walking out of the house. Never have I seen so many drunk people at a party. I asked Matt if this was how parties usually were here. He told me that they are worse mostly. I was confused because how much worse could a party get. I didn't feel like asking questions about it though.

The drive home was quiet. I just looked out the car window and felt my self drift off into sleep. When I woke up I was in my own bed and it was bright outside. Matt must have carried me inside. When I got out of bed I went downstairs to get myself some juice. As I was pouring my juice I got a text from Matt saying: I want to take you someplace today. Can you be ready in about an hour? I smiled to myself and replied: Of course.
