The Night of the Party
The Cullen house was at full capacity with teenagers. The lights were off and the music was blaring. Bella was with her friends when she spotted Sebastian in a far corner. She scanned him and took note of what he was wearing. He wore a simple black v-neck sweater and some black slacks that were being worn with a pair of black dress shoes to go along with the rest of the outfit. Some silver rings decorated his fingers and Bella noticed that he was wearing a necklace that was tucked into his sweater. She tried to move closer to him but stopped when she saw Jasper come out of nowhere and tucked himself right into Sebastian's side. Suddenly, as if he could tell someone was watching he looked right at her, his eyes narrowing in anger before looking away.
Bella wasn't stupid, she knew that her words had hurt Sebastian and that he was still angry with her. She sighed and turned her attention back to her friends. As the night progressed, Bella noticed a visitor outside. Then she saw Sebastian's head snap to the windows. He immediately strode to the door and wrenched it open. From where she was standing, Bella could see that he was having some kind of argument with Jake who had arrived. Then, she saw Sebastian freeze. At that moment she knew that he had another vision and so did Alice. Rosalie, Xavier, Jasper, Edward and Emmett quickly ended the party and had everyone leave. Carlisle and Esme were quick to invite Jake into the house and had everyone gather in the living room.
Sebastian immediately went to Jasper and wrapped his arms around him from behind, resting his head on Jasper's shoulder. Jasper smiled slightly at the affection and placed a hand on Sebastian's arm. Once everyone had settled, Carlisle expectantly turned to Alice and Sebastian.
"So Sebastian's vision is correct. Someone is making an army to come after Bella." Alice began.
"Do either of you have an idea of who?" Carlisle asked.
"Victoria." Sebastian projected.
"The red head?" Emmett asked.
"Yes, her mate was James and he died at the hands of Sebastian so she wants to hurt him in the worst way." Alice explained.
"That's the only explanation. She's also been going onto the Rez, she's been causing a lot of wolves to shift early. She also caused Harry Clearwater to have a heart attack." Sebastian added.
"Why didn't we hear about this Sebastian?" Carlisle questioned.
"Because it's pack business, and I was just told by Jacob what has been going on even though Sam should've updated me. The reason why Alice hasn't seen her is that she's playing with Alice's blind spots." Sebastian retorted.
"I'm confused. What are newborns?" Jacob piped up.
"It's when we're at our strongest. Our strength, speed and senses are at an all time high. Unfortunately, it also means that our blood-lust is very strong." Carlisle explained.
"So, what about Seb? He's still really strong and fast." Jacob asked.
"Sebastian is a very rare exception. His ability allows him to mimic other abilities, skills and enhancements permanently through eye contact. He looked at his reflection when he was newly turned and mimicked the enhancements of a newborn. He still has those instincts which present a favorable opportunity for us." Carlisle stated.
"We'll have to establish a watch to keep Charlie and Bella safe until she comes." Sebastian suddenly said.
"How will that be possible? You all need to hunt. You can't do that and watch me at the same time." Bella replied.
"This isn't just about you Isabella. Your father is at risk too, kindly consider someone else for a change." Jasper interjected.
Sebastian snorted as he tried to keep from laughing at Jasper's comment and Bella's offended glare. She looked like a constipated puppy in his opinion. Edward had to hold back a laugh at Sebastian's thoughts on his sister. There was an awkward silence as Edward had to calm down from the slightly unflattering images of Bella that Sebastian was projecting at a rapid speed. Once Edward took an unnecessary breath, Carlisle continued with the meeting.
"Why are we even helping her?" Rosalie questioned suddenly.
"Rose-."
"No. I want to know why we are risking ourselves again for a selfish human who doesn't even understand what she'd be giving up." Rosalie continued.
"Because she's Sebastian's sister." Esme finally spoke up
Then Bella realized that the only reason why they were going to keep her safe was because of Sebastian. She sighed inwardly at the realization that she didn't have a real place in the family she so desperately wanted to be in. Sebastian let out a mental sigh of relief at Bella's emotions turning to acceptance at the situation. He also got a small thought from her as she accepted that Edward was right, they weren't anything more than what they were, a vampire and a blood singer. Carlisle seemed to have a light bulb moment before turning to Sebastian. Sebastian heard his thought. He smirked as his eyes darkened slightly and nodded in acceptance to Carlisle's thought.
"I'm sure Sam and the rest of the pack would be willing to help if they get the chance to sink their teeth into some newborns. Jake, go and tell Sam about the situation and tell him to meet us in the clearing with the rest of the pack in two days. You all need to learn how to defend yourselves from newborns and where their weak spots are." Sebastian requested.
Jake nodded and quickly left to inform Sam of the plan and place to meet. Bella just stood in the background watching as the Cullens prepared themselves for training and the arrival of the newborn army.
