Downed Phoenix and The Afterlife

Kenji POV:
Ahhhhhh, there's nothing like some hot chocolate at sunset, steam rolling out, marshmallows bobbing up and down, I heard someone coming up the stairs, I glanced at the stairwell, expecting to see Kiriko, "Looks like you already found the best spot yeah boot?" Genji emerged from the stairs, "Oh, hey Genji, what's up?" Hot chocolate in hand, he took a sip as we looked off into the sunset, "Where's Kiri?" I put my hand on the railing, "Oop, chug the hot chocolate" "Why?" "Raze 1 is buzzing the tower, unless you want to splash burning hot chocolate all over you, chug, like your life depends upon it." I opened wide, and me and Genji engaged in a chugging contest, ooh, the heat is going down my throat and settling in my chest. Genji's eyes go wide, as a sonic cloud appears around the jet "Holy shit, are they doing this on purpose?!" A crackle was heard over deck "STRIKER 1 AND PHOENIX 1 PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF GOD FINISH THAT HOT CHOCOLATE" I splashed the hot chocolate on my face "FUCK!" I gagged, Genji wiped his mouth clean "Holy hell are you okay?!" A boom is heard as the jet blasted by, now my armor is sticky, and my face feels like it's on fire. "Well, I'm gonna take a shower, and maybe a bowl of ramen" I sighed, "Well, see you on the field Kenji" "You too" we depart, on the way there, I run into Dr. Ziegler, "Oh hey Kenji, do you know where Genji is?" "Yeah, he's on the deck, but he'll probably head down a bit, anyways, did you see Kiriko on your way here?" "Yeah, she grumbled about spilling boba tea all over her, and judging by your sticky face, you spilled a drink all over you too" "Ding Ding!" "Well, I will see you around Kenji" "You too" I walked to the room, and opened the dorm door, and walked over to my computer, I booted up the new Call of Duty, MW76, Modern Warfare, I tapped the keys on my keyboard while I waited for the game loading, I equipped the Ghost operator, and equipped the fabled ACR, but it's called the RACR, for obvious gun right reasons. I loaded into Rust 2075, I queued up and heard the scratchy voice of a 9 year old kid calling everyone garbage, this kid is a level 1 noob, "I jUsT dOwNlOaDeD tHe GaMe AnD i'M bEtTeR tHaN yOu." I grumble "Bro, you are about to get whooped" "ShUt U-" And I Headshotted him. I yelled "GET REKT KID! GET REKT KED!" The kid runs up with a riot shield and a fire shotgun, but I picked up a sniper and freaking no-scoped the little gremlin, "REEEEEEEEEE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" I hear in the background "SHUT UP TIMMY AND GET OFF THE GAME!-NO! I WANT TO KEEP PLAYING!-NO! TURN IT OFF!!" and I heard a screech as what I assumed was their mom, and they were disconnected, I burst out laughing "PFFFFFF HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" a door opens behind me, I flinched and pretended that I was engrossed in this game, because I'm not a perv, Kiriko almost yelped "Kenji? What are you doing here?" I started WHISTLING, Kiriko got the hint and proceeded to throw on some clothes, "You smell of Hot chocolate" "Got into a chugging contest with the boss, and dumped the whole mug of hot chocolate all over my face." I hear her chuckle, "Well, wash up" "Heard you spilled Boba tea all over yourself" "Yeah, some idiot decided to buzz the Helicarrier in a fighter jet" "Yeah, I saw it" I won the match, closed the PC and took a shower, afterwards, I walked out and joined a few of Phoenix squadron in a quick Wingsuit patrol around the carrier, so I tapped the side of my suit helmet "Hey boss, put me in for overtime, I am going for a late night patrol with phoenix team" "Got it, Carbon team should be circling back, rendezvous with them and take over, see ya" I gave the team a thumbs-up "The boss cleared us" I tapped my armor watch and pulled up the wingsuit mod, and then I pushed the helmet onto my head, I then took a leap of faith off the back of the carrier and then activated the boosters, pulling next to the helicarrier "This is Phoenix 1, Carbon team what is your status?" I flew around and saw a bruised up wingsuit flying at the helicarrier, "Car-bon 1, heavily damaged, wings don't work, there are hostiles inbound, the rest are down" and the wingsuiter crashed onto the deck, I glance over towards the large cloud formation, and saw 3 Null transporters emerging from the cloud, like an ominous force, "THIS IS PHOENIX 1! WE HAVE NULL SECTOR TRANSPORTS ATTEMPTING TO BOARD THE CARRIER! DEFEND THE DECK!" Loud sirens blare as soldiers pour through entrances and begin manning AA guns and firing at the large ships. But their guns did no damage, guns rotate and I get shot 4 times, a part of the holo-wingsuit got ripped apart, shredding through part of my armor, red streaks appear all over me due to damage, I start going in a downwards spirals, a bunch of stress is put on my arm, "AAARRRGGHH!!" blood dripping through the nylon, I plunged through the clouds "FUCK! I'M GOING DOWN!" Rain pattered down my visor, my legs started icing up, my vision blacking out, I felt faint, and my right arm went limp, I pulled my arm in in attempts to tap my parachute button, but that arm's motors stopped functioning altogether, and the ground was coming in fast, I braced, went through a canopy, tried to wingsuit, and vines wrapped around my arms and helmet, slowing me down, the vines tightened around, causing me to spin, and a large wooden tree that had been snapped in half before, so a large protruding wooden blade was sticking out, as I was spinning, I caught a glimpse of the blade, my eyes go wide, and I felt a sharp and hard pain through my stomach, blood spilled out from my mouth, I pushed myself off the blade, flopped on the ground and crawled over to a tree stump, and leaning on it, blood trailing and painting the floor, I exhaled, my body full with absolute agony, over the radio, I hear soldiers yelling and callouts being screamed metal and water rained down on me, metal shards dug into the dirt, I removed my helmet, a trail of blood flowing down my face, dripping into my eye, I blinked quickly, I looked around, and saw leaves rustling around, I raised my pistol, and tried to stabilize it with my broken arm, I inhale, and held my breath, I fired a couple of rounds, and I heard a clank and a thud, I crawled to the body, and saw an unconscious cyborg, I kept crawling, rolled the body over and was met with a fainted Genji, I pulled out a stimshot, and stuck it into his arm, his eyes flew open, and saw me, in my ever decaying state, I propped myself against a tree, and Genji yelled "OH MY GOD! KENJI WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU ?!" "A little crash" I pointed at the broken trees and vines. "Holy shit, we are leaving, NOW!" Genji grabbed my armpits, and dragged me behind him to get me onto the helicopter idling in a clearing, he pulled me onto it, and the copter lifted up, Genji got on the line of the radio "Striker 1 and Phoenix 1 is RTB, phoenix is badly damaged, requires medical, possibly surgery" A crackle is heard and Kiriko's voice boomed "KENJI?! WHAT HAPPENED?! ARE YOU OKAY?!" "I'm fine" I heard rustling and Doctor Ziegler's voice came over "Kenji can you hear me? You too Genji, I need you to do some medical during the ride" "Got it" "Press down on the injury after removing the armor, wrap any clean clothes around any bloody injuries, try stabilizing and use the armor nanotech to try healing up more, any internal injuries, especially bleeding, , need to be treated immediately." "Copy, Striker out" I removed part of my leg armor and almost passed out after seeing a BRANCH that was protruding out of my calf, I took off my shirt and wrapped it around the branch and entry wound. I slowed my breathing, and grunted in pain, the helicarrier appeared, however, it was much more damaged, smoking and craters everywhere, holes and cracks in the jets above-deck, null sector trooper parts scattered across the deck, a wingsuit team leaned against the tower, the helicopter touched down, and Genji used the walking assist move, and helped me walk into medical ward, Kiriko ran up to me and Genji STOPPED her, "Hands off the merchandise, he's close to losing his leg, Angela flew down the hallway, tokyo-drifting the stretcher, Genji pushed me, and I landed square on the stretcher, Genji grabbed one side, and pushed me, Kiriko ran beside the stretcher, Phoenix team saw me and rushed over "SHIT! What happened?!" "I got shot down by a null transport" "Couldn't you just use the parachute?" "Nope, my arm was pinned down and didn't work" I winced in pain, and my vision blacked out, and then I saw white, all around, I stood up, seemingly unharmed, clouds surrounded my view, in front was an old tv, from what looked like the 80s, a VHS tape laid on the ground, I grabbed the tape and flipped it over, on it read "Kenji's Life" I picked it up, slid it into the VHS player, and a crackle appears, and a grainy picture of wait, Mom? She was hugging me, singing lullabies, tears filled my eyes, then the TV flashed and cut to a car crash,the car was in the water, I peered over the pier and I glanced up at the police officer the officer sighed, "I'm sorry Kid, she didn't make it" tears fell down my face, both in the past, and in the present,, there was a sequence of some of the worst parts of my life, one really stuck out, it was my 18th birthday, I woke up to be greeted by an excited dad, this was odd, because my dad always yelled and screamed at me, "Happy birthday champ!" "Thanks dad" he handed an envelope, I opened it and was amazed by the money "oh,my,god, thank you dad! You're the best!" "That's good to hear, now, pack your bags" "We're going somewhere?" "No, get the fuck out, never come back, I hate you, you're the reason your mom died, now get out of my sight before I make you regret it" I grabbed my bag, packed some clothes and food, and left, not before clocking my dad in the face, his nose burst out in blood, and his lip cut, blood leaked out, "I wanted to do that for a long time, was waiting till I turn 18" With that, I walked out the door, giving my father the bird, I exhaled, and the video cut, and there appeared a video of me and Kiriko, bumping in for the first time, I dropped my bag, I stumbled to pick it up, but Kiriko quickly picked it up and handed it to me, "Oh, thanks!" "It was no problem!" and that moment, the environment I was surrounded in, started to darken, rain started to patter, the TV crackled, and smoke emerged out of the set, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a bright light, I turned my body, and saw a funeral, torches burnt around a grave, a squad of black armor-donning soldiers, and blonde angel hugged a black and red-eyed cyborg, and a girl, wearing fox ears and shrine maiden attire, was crying in front of the stone, I walked over to the tomb, and noticed the gravestone, "Here lies Kenji Rioku, A soldier, A loving man and a good friend" I bent down to the grave, I was laying down, my head poking out, with a black cloak draped over the rest of my body, I'm dead, this is what death feels like, the TV set was my life, flashing before my eyes. I opened my eyes, just like in the beginning, I was in a white area, this time, there was a kid there, "Hey, Kenji, didn't expect to see you so soon" I recognized the kid at once, it was my best friend, at least, he was, he died of cancer when I was 12 years old, "Ito?, It's been years ""Yeah, It's quite lonely here""So this is what death feels like?" "Yup, but, it's not time, you still got a life ahead of you, you are waking up... now" He snapped, and I woke up, I was on life support, Overwatch and DLA all around me, my eyes shuttered open, I groaned, and tears form up as I realized that I am alive, no TV set, no Ito, no funeral, just, life. Genji ran over "KENJI!" I looked down to see just a fluff of light blue hair, in my face, and I felt the crush force of a cyborg, a fox girl, a doctor, and 6 soldiers, I croaked out "oh lord, yo, my ribs might actually snap" Angela let go first, and then Phoenix team, and then Genji, Kiriko held on, under her breath, she says "Thank the fox spirit, you're alive..." "Aw. Kiri, did you worry about me?" she raised her head, and there were pink lines all over her face, she put pink triangles under her eyes, but seeing pink all over, meant that she was crying, for a while too, because it takes FOREVER to get that stuff off, you know how I know? Whenever we kiss, a bit gets on my face, and it takes 30 minutes for every square centimeter. "Hey, hey, look at me, it's okay, I am alive, sure, I saw my life flash before my eyes, and I met my late best friend from childhood" Kiriko stared at me blankly, "What?" I called out "Hey Genji, do you have something like a mind reading/memory device?" "Yup, let me set it up" "good, Kiri, just look, it is actually sad,

Fast Forward basically a sad movie

Everyone was crying, even my team, naturally, Kiriko and Genji were weeping the hardest. Angela brought a soaked box of kleenex, I looked at her "Doctor, what was even the point? It's all wet!"

Even I didn't think that my backstory was THAT sad,

While they were crying, I sprinted to the kitchen, and pulled out a couple of things, noodles, fish, seaweed, garlic, ginger, Chicken broth,dried shiitake mushrooms, eggs and some other toppings, I started by stir frying my veggies, I prepared the broth, I pulled out my dual kodachis and sliced up some scallions, I threw in the noodles, and scallions into the broth, and tossed the vegetables up, I sheathed the kodachis, and grabbed the handle of my katana, and split up everything, I grabbed the eggs, and one-hand cracked 2 eggs at once, yolks dropped down, I opened the chopsticks and spun it, mixing it all up, I lit my hand on fire and used it to heat up the wok, I pulled out 6 bowls, and served it all up, grappled a metal plate, and pulled out a set of ceramic soup spoons, I put them all in the bowls, along with the chopsticks, I sprinted back to my hospital room, they were still crying, as the remote broke, rewinding me encountering my late best friend, so I sighed, pulled out my sidearm, and shot the monitor, everyone blinked and I slid the bowls of ramen to everyone "Cheer up everyone, I don't need pity, it's part of the job description yea?" Genji mumbled "But I would like to see my men come home" "And that's where you're right, I am home, this is my home" I gestured to all of them "You are all my family, I trust you, And I hope you do too" Kiriko hugs me "Now,Now, eat up before it gets cold" Angela started fumbling over the chopsticks, but Genji started helping her, I asked "How's the Ramen" A loud MMMMMMMMMMM was heard as Genji slurped up the ramen "JUST LIKE RIKIMARU!" Angela's eyes light up "OH MY GOD!:D" Kiriko's downed eyes rise up, and she says "Thanks Kenji"
