Then the rest of us follow after. It's always so disorienting when traveling from the Nether back to the Overworld. As I exited, I saw what I thought was a zombie, briefly. Jesse killed it, evaporating into a puff of gray and white. "Where are we?" Livi questioned. "In the dark; in the middle of nowhere." Jesse answered back, plainly. "Maybe we should bed down for the night. It's dangerous to be out when it's this dark. Axel sparked Lukas a look. "I thought we were heading toward the temple?" "We're looking for a giant building, it should be pretty obvious." "Ivor said–" Lukas began, before getting cut off by Axel. "Ohhhh "Ivor said", well maybe this is the temple." Then he leaned into Olivia, whispering, "I'm being sarcastic." Olivia gave him an annoyed look. "Axel...come on." She said, almost sounding like she was telling him off. "We have to build a shelter." Jesse stated to us. Lukas, sounding a bit hurt and confused, spoke. "I thought that's what I just said?" I placed a hand on his shoulder, whispering to him while Olivia spoke. "They're a little slow, don't worry about it." This caused an exhale and a smile on the blonde's face. "I say we build a treehouse." Olivia said, causing Axel to roll his eyes. "That'll take forever. And we'll be exposed while we do it. All we need is a quick and dirty hut." "Look, whatever it is? We gotta do it fast." Axel and Olivia looked at him. "What?" He plainly asked. Olivia turned back to Axel, speaking. "In a hut, we won't know what's coming until it's knocking on our door." "A treehouse is going to be spider town. I hate spiders." Axel protested. "The only thing that could get us from up there are spiders." I began. "If we built a hut, we would be exposed to more monsters. But then again, a hut wouldn't take as long, so." I said, shrugging. "Let's go with a treehouse." Jesse said, deciding. "It's functional and will keep us out of less danger." "It's not a bad idea." "Alright, fine." Axel said, admitting his defeat. We quickly started gathering all the materials we needed and began building it. We built a nice, roofless platform. It was made out of spruce, although it looked much darker at night. It had little torches here and there on the couple of pillars we built. From the ground, there was a long ladder, reaching to the stop. Right in the middle of the wooded platform was a fire pit with a crackling fire going. We stood at the ground, looked up at it. "If I wake up with a spider on my face, I'm going to expect you to get rid of it." Axel said, talking to one of us, not knowing who though. "Lower your expectations, Axel." Olivia arrogantly said. "Well, maybe if we'd built into the tree a little bit more, it could've– Nevermind. It's– this is fine. It's good!" Lukas began, but then changed his mind, not wanting to anger Axel again. "Looks good, guys." Jesse said. I nodded my head in agreement. We climbed up the ladder, walking on the platform. We all found a spot close to the fire– well...most of us anyway. We were just making small talk, Axel stuffing his hands into his pockets. His eyes widened, a small smile exposed on his face. "Oh man!" We all looked at him, alerted. "What?" Olivia quickly asked. "I'm going to tell you something, you have to promise not to freak out." "What is it?" Jesse asked him, concerned. "I have cookies." Axel said, smiling and pulling them out of his pocket. We all smiled. He began passing them out. "One for me, one for Olivia, one for Jesse, one for Y/N." I took it, happily. I was just about to eat it, when I looked over at Lukas. He had distanced himself off from the rest of us, leaning against one of the pillars, looking glum. I turned back, expecting Axel to give him one as well. "And one for Reuben." He said as he placed it down in front of the little pig. "Sorry Lukas, I only had five." Axel said, sounding slightly unapologetic. Lukas reluctantly looked back up at the rest of us, talking as if it was okay. "Oh, no, it's– It's alright, I'm not that hungry anyway, I'll just...grab something in the morning...or something." Everyone began eating them, except Jesse. He hesitated for a few moments. Abruptly, I stood up from the fire, walking over to Lukas. I sat down next to him, holding the cookie in my hand. I raised the arm holding it, indicating that I was offering it to the blonde. He caught on to this, quickly declining it. "Take it, Lukas." "Oh, no, no, I can't do that." I gave him a calm expression. "I insist." I gave him a smile. He finally took it, thanking me. "Thanks, Y/N." He swiftly ate it. Jesse finally ate his as well. Axel crossed his arms, giving me an annoyed look. "That was for you, Y/N. Not him." "It's not a big deal, Ax." I said, shrugging. Olivia looked over at us, beginning to ask, "If you had to...which would you rather fight...a hundred chicken-sized zombies, or ten zombie-sized chickens?" I smiled at Olivia's question, reminiscing on the beginning of the day. "Choose wisely." Jesse said, also smiling. "That's a good one. Let me think." "How can you guys joke at a time like this? Petra is still out there. She's all by herself. There's nothing funny about that." Axel began, fed up with our jokes. "Petra wouldn't mind at all. She'd want us to keep our spirits up." Jesse said, defending her. "If I were her, I'd... I dunno. It feels wrong." "Fine, then. We should get some rest. We gotta start looking for this temple as early as we can." Lukas briefly stopped "Now, my guess is, if we start at the portal and kind of split up–" "Woah, what are you doing?" Axel cut off Lukas, beginning to target him once again. "Did I do something to you? I'd really like to know, because you keep getting on my case for what seems like no reason." Lukas said, finally having enough of Axel. "We'll figure it out in the morning." Jesse said, trying to quickly end what was going to probably spiral into an argument. Lukas sighed, "Maybe you're right. I'm pretty exhausted." "He means 'us', not you." "Axel, we'll figure it out in the morning." Jesse said once again. "You're the only one wearing that stupid jacket. Don't tell us what to do." This seemed to have really agitated Lukas, because he stood up, taking a few steps towards Axel. "Take. That. Back." "Can't. Wouldn't." Axel replied, flatly. "You know what? I get to wear this jacket because I know how to build. But that doesn't mean I don't know how to break things." Lukas said, brutally. I had to admit, I was a bit intimidated by Lukas at that moment. He was very angered, telling by the tone he used when he spoke. "Your threats don't scare me, now that we know who you really are." Lukas didn't say anything, except when he turned to Jesse and Olivia's direction. "Your friend is WAY out of line." "I wasn't going to bring it up, but I can only take so much." "Let's just drop it." Jesse said, trying to stop it for the third time. "Haven't you done enough damage for one day? Petra might be dead because of you." My eyes widened. "You're taking this too far, Axel." Livi said to him. "I don't have to take this." "Listen...why don't I just leave and let you guys hash this out." Lukas said, walking towards the ladder. "You can't leave. It's dangerous out there." "I can take care of myself. It's what Axel wants, right?" "Let him leave if he wants to leave." "He's not leaving, okay? Whether either of you like it or not." I told them, ending the debate. "But Y/N–" "That's enough. We're all on the same team now. He's staying." Lukas gave a small smile, sitting back down in the original spot he sat before. The rest of us did the same, taking my place next to Lukas once more. "Zombie-sized chickens. That's what I'd fight." Lukas said, suddenly. Olivia was confused at first, but soon caught on. "Why's that?" "Cause i'm starving." I nodded in agreement. Out of nowhere, I felt a drop hit my nose. I was confused as to what it was at first, but soon realized it was rain. The droplets of water began falling more and more often. It began to rain; not a hard rain though, a calm, almost nostalgic kind of rain. As if we've been in this position before. I personally didn't mind. The only part is that I was going to get wet and possibly cold. I actually quite enjoy the sound and smell of the weather. Rain is very soothing to me; almost as if it releases all my stress for me, sometimes stress I didn't even know I had. The others seemed to feel differently about it. "Of course." Livi said, laced with annoyance. "Rain is better than monsters." Lukas said, trying to be optimistic. "Yeah, you're right." She said back. "Well, goodnight...I guess." She said once more, before laying down on the platform. She took her beanie from her head, placing it across her face so as to not let the rain hit it while she slept. "Goodnight Liv." I said back. "Goodnight." Jesse said to her as well. "Yeah I'm going to sleep too." Axel said flatly. "Goodnight Y/N, Jesse, Reuben." He said, purposely cutting Lukas's name out. "Goodnight Axel." I told him back. The fire had gone out due to the rain, so there wasn't much we could see. All that the torch lit up is what we could see, which wasn't a lot. "I really hope Petra's okay." Jesse said, sounding distraught. "She'll be okay Jess. She's strong and can handle anything. She'll be back before you know it." I said, trying to cheer him up. He looked at me and shrugged. "I know, but still. I can't lose Petra, I l–" Jesse caught himself before he could continue on. "I...I'd miss her too much." He said, trying to play it off. I closed my eyes for a second; opening them, I spoke. "We all know how you feel about her." I told him. Jesse's face went a light shade of pink. "Is it really that noticeable?" He quickly asked, scratching at the back of his head as a small smile appeared on his face. I nodded yes, letting out a quiet giggle. "Whoops." He said, smiling. "It's okay Jess, we won't say anything. Right Lukas?" I asked, only to find the blonde in a deep sleep, laying next to me. "Oh–" I said, not knowing he had fallen asleep. Jesse quietly chuckled at this, covering his mouth with his hand so he wasn't too loud. Once he had finished, he inhaled, exhaled, and began talking, "Well, I'm going to try and sleep too. Make sure you do too Y/N." The brown-haired boy said to me. "I will when I'm tired, okay?" I told him. He nodded his head and layed down, Reuben snuggling up next to him. "Goodnight Jesse, goodnight Reuben." I said, smiling. "Goodnight Y/N." He said back to me, Reuben letting out a quiet oink-like noise. I looked back up at the sky, still smiling. There were rain clouds still here and there, but the starry sky could still be seen. I looked up, blinking every once in a while due to raindrops. I loved the sky, especially at night. Minutes passed and the rain began to clear up. Slowly but surely, the clouds that once covered much of the sky had now disappeared, leaving nothing but the star filled sky and the moon left. It was a full moon, casting a dim shine, all across the land. You could see the light sparkles from the wet leaves in certain spots at certain times. The wind that was once not there, had appeared. It was light, and surprisingly warm. I laid my head on the pillar behind me, closing my eyes for a brief moment. I heard, from beside me, a light stir. "Y/N...are you still awake...?" a husky voice said from the same side as the movement. I turned and looked down to meet eyes, more so eye, with Lukas. He was squinting from the shine of the moon. "Yeah. Is everything alright?" I asked him. He groaned, propping himself up to lean on the pillar he was leaning on almost hours prior. "Yeah. When did the rain stop?" He asked me. I shrugged, plainly answering "Not too long ago. I dunno." "I assume you're going to leave in the morning to find your other friends?" This time, Lukas shrugged. "Probably not." I turned my head to face his, surprised. "Why not?" "Well I don't know where they are. It'd be better if I stayed with someone instead of going off to find them." "True." "Axel would disagree though." I sighed. As I did so, I shifted my body to face his. I placed a hand on his shoulder, telling him, "He's just frustrated that Petra is out there. And the fact that you're part of The Ocelots." I paused. "He thinks you're like Aiden." "Am I like Aiden?" "God no. You are nothing like that tool– no offense." I caught myself, remembering the two are friends. "None taken." "Aiden is beyond arrogant and annoying and, and...He irritates me beyond belief." "You are nothing like that. You're smart, and you're funny, and you're honestly super sweet. Something he cannot and can never be." Lukas looked at me with a smile. "Th...Thank you, Y/N." "And thank you for keeping me around." "Of course Lukas, that's what friends do." I shuddered, ending the sentence. "Wow, it got cold." "I guess the wind must have changed while we were talking." He told me. "At least the wind isn't strong." I pointed out. "And it's not raining anymore." Lukas added. I yawned before I could get another sentence out. "I think it's time you went to sleep, Y/N." I layed down, resting my head on my arm. "I guesssssss." I said, lingering the 's' on. "Get to sleep soon Lukas." "I will. Goodnight Y/N." I smiled and closed my eyes. "Goodnight Lukas." I replied, shivering once more.
