~ Lukas's POV ~
A few minutes had passed since my conversation with Y/N. I looked down at her resting body. She looked so calm, so peaceful. I smiled to myself, my face heating up slightly. All of a sudden, she twisted a bit. Then turned a bit. I took notice of this. I thought to myself about why she could have done that. I thought that she may be cold. I reconfigured with myself before deciding to take off my leather jacket. I placed it on top of her, almost replicating a blanket. It seemed like her being cold was the issue because her sleepy and annoyed expression soon turned into a sleepy and once again, calm expression. I smiled to myself again, sliding my body to lay on the platform as well. I shifted slightly to get comfortable. Breathing in, and then back out, I closed my eyes and began to slip into a good-as-it-can-get sleep. The last thing I remember before falling asleep was the sound of the leaves rustling due to the wind...and Y/N's breathing.
~ Y/N'S POV ~
I stirred a little, opening my eyes slightly. It was certainly not night anymore, but it wasn't exactly day either. It was that moment before the sun was visible to the eye. I opened my eyes all the way, finally. I was about to sit myself up right, when I felt a light weight on top of me. I looked at my body, only to see the face of an ocelot. I was somewhat still drowsy from the sleep, so I was very confused. Ocelots are in the jungle, why is there one right here? Then it clicked– I had Lukas's jacket laid across me. I smiled at the gesture before looking over at him. He laid, steadily breathing. He had a serene look plastered across his features. Once again, I smiled to myself...unknowingly why. I finally fully sat myself up, sitting criss-crossed. I noticed that the sun was edging nearer and nearer to the sky. I breathed in, inhaling the new day's air. It was crisp and honestly quite cold. For a while, I watched as the sun finally hit the land, illuminating everything with yellow, orange, and pink hues. I watched as I could see wolves and their pups walking around below. "Y/N?" I heard Lukas say groggily from beside me. "Hm?" I hummed in response. "How long have you been awake?" "Not too long, why?" Lukas shrugged, propping himself up as well. The sun had finally hit our eyes, shining brightly into them. It still casted a hue over everything, but it wasn't pink any longer. It was just a golden colour. I blinked a few times, almost squinting because of it. I turned to Lukas to ask him something, but immediately got stunned by the blonde. The sun's golden hue, hitting him at just the right angle, lit him up. The gilded tint to his skin, making his blue eyes even bluer. I didn't know what to say, so I just stared. "Y/N...?" Lukas said, I said nothing in response at first, but finally managed to blurt something out. "O-OH, yeah? Sorry–" "It's...cool...Are you...okay?" I nodded my head. "Yeah– I was just...I dunno...Surprised." "Surprised? At what...?" I hesitated, then decided to answer. "You–? Don't take that the wrong way– I meant like– the sun. The way the sun was shining on you– Does that even make it sound better??" I began rambling. His face lit up with a peachy colour and wide eyes. "Just– Never mind. Okay?" I said, awkwardly smiling. But what I couldn't understand was why I also had the same peachy tint across my own. It was probably from embarrassment... Probably. I heard a light groan from behind me. I quickly turned, not only to see what it was, but also avoiding eye contact with Lukas. I saw that Jesse was beginning to wake up. "Morning Jess." I said with an almost forced smile. All I got was a groan in response. I rolled my eyes to it, walking over to Olivia to wake her up. "Livi, wake up." I said, gently shaking her. She also groaned, but then opened her eyes, unlike Jesse. A few minutes had passed and everyone was awake now, taking in the morning sun. I breathed in the fresh air, exhaling it again. We rode the ladder down and hopped off, landing on the cool, dewy grass. We were looking around, making small conversations when Jesse walked up to Lukas. I watched as they conversed "You doing okay?" He asked the blonde. "It was a rough night." "It happens...we were all tired and...I'm just glad you're okay." Jesse said once more, a smile brimming on his face. "Thanks for being so cool about it." "Cool beans." Jesse turned away from Lukas to face me, Olivia, and Axel. I quickly turned away, pretending like I wasn't watching and listening to them. "See anything?" Jesse asked Olivia finally. "Hey! There's something over that way!" Lukas pointed out, pointing in the direction that he was implying. "What is it?" "Some kind of building. I think." This sparked Jesse's interest. "Let's get a closer look." We began walking a little bit and climbed up the vines that sat on the small cliff of land in front of us. As we made it to the top, we all stood in awe, staring at what we assumed was the temple of The Order of the Stone. "Woah, this place is amazing." I said, looking at it as if I had stars in my eyes. "This has to be the place!" Jesse said. We jumped down from the cliff, Reuben almost falling because of how high it was. We began walking towards it, taking in what was built around us. "What is this place?" Axel catechized. "That's what we're trying to figure out." I told him. "It's the temple of The Order of the Stone." Lukas said to the both of us. "Lukas, are you sure?" I asked him. This time Jesse answered, "He's right! Look!" The brunette said, pulling out the Order's amulet and comparing it to the design of the stained glass that sat above the entrance. "What the hell– He gave you the amulet?!" I said in surprise, more so questioned. "Holy crap!" Ax said. "Do you think they're in there?" Olivia inquired. "Let's go in and find out." Axel said shrugging and beginning to walk in. We followed behind, and soon we entered the temple. "Let's just all be careful." "Okay." "If you spot anything, call it out. We don't have a lot of time." We looked over to see dispensers layed out all across the hall we were walking down. "Isn't it weird how dispensers are carved to look like spooky little faces?" Axel vocalized. I quickly noticed this and let out a small giggle. "I totally see that. They're so cute." "What do you dispense, little guy?" He jokingly asked, although, in slight form, it didn't sound like a joke. "IIIIIIII get the feeling that we don't really wanna find out." Olivia said, dragging the 'I'. Randomly, we heard a noise. I couldn't quite put my finger on it as to what it was. It almost sounded like a groan– Maybe from a zombie? "Get behind me." Jesse said to us. We listened and all walked behind him as he led us further into the temple. We paused walking as another groan-like noise occurred. This noise seemed to have alarmed Reuben because he let out a small squeal and ran ahead of us all. We ran up to catch him, and as we did so, he stepped on a wooden pressure plate. A gate that was laying open before, had now closed. "What was that?" Lukas asked no one in specific. Axel was the one to respond. "That's probably not a good thing." Suddenly, the dispensers made a clicking noise, as if the pressure plate Reuben ran across activated them. "Awe, come on, dispenser faces! I thought we were friends?" "Run!" Indeed, I was correct. The pressure plate did activate them. Arrows came flying out at raging speeds, nearly hitting us. Fortunately, we dodged them all, making it into the middle corridor. We looked at the other hallway that was spread in front of us, only for it to be filled with the same arrows as the one behind us. "We're trapped." Jesse stated. "We activated the dispensers with that pressure plate. If we can figure out a way to trigger it again, I'll bet that'll shut'em off." Lukas said, mostly to Jesse. "There's a crafting table– Maybe we can make something useful?" "With what materials, Jesse?" I said. "Yeah, all of our tools and materials are at home." said Livi. "Alright, everyone. Empty your pockets. Let's see what we have to work with." Jess demanded of us. "I have a few sticks left over from building the shelter last night." "I've got some flint. And...a piece of string. "All I have are some chicken feathers I picked up after that chicken machine exploded." "I have absolutely nothing." Everyone said, putting their stuff into a pile...except me. "I've got...some flint and steel. A sword. Oh, and some string from a spider that I fought in the woods earlier. "String, sticks, flint, and feathers." Oliva said. Jesse looked at it all, and began thinking. I guess the thought of something because he picked it all up and began crafting. He crafted a bow and a single arrow. Smart. He readied the bow and arrow, aiming it at the pressure plate on the other side of the hallway. "You got this, Jess." I said to him. He let go of the arrow, firing it across the other arrows. To our luck, it hit right in the middle of the plate, causing the dispensers to stop firing the other arrows. I smiled to myself. "The Dead Enders' luck is changing." Axel noticed as we walked on. We entered a room that almost looked like a library, also almost like the basement Ivor was in with the Iron Golem. There were large bookshelves; the books that were stowed in them were covered with a thick layer of dust and spider webs. "This must be their enchantment room." Lukas said. "Kinda looks like Ivor's creepy basement." I told him, as he nodded in agreement. We disbanded, looking around the place. Jesse walked up to Lukas and talked to him briefly. I walked through the second maze-like bookshelves. At the very end was an enchantment table, laced with obsidian and diamonds. On top, was an open book, almost floating there. I walked up to it, and looked at the open pages. Handwritten words, ink that looks like it's been stuck on the pages for years. I began to read aloud. "The battle was fierce, but the Order of the Stone emerged triumphant, saving the land and ensuring that peace and prosperity would rein forever..." As I read, everyone surrounded me, listening eagerly. "Well, not exactly forever." said the blonde. I gave a light nod, widening my eyes. I continued on reading. "These five members...five friends. Together, they would give so much to gain their rightful place, five heroes." The more I read on, the more the book revealed. Ivor...was a part of the Order. I was absolutely stunned by this information. Jesse took over for a moment, reading a line. "They would author their own end. They would slay a dragon." Olivia seemed surprised too, "Ivor was a member of the Order of the Stone. The stories never mentioned him..." "This is so crazy." Lukas piped in. "There must be a reason he's never been mentioned." Jesse said, thinking. "Maybe he was different back then?" "Maybe they kicked him out?" "This is so crazy." Lukas piped in once more. "The Order might not be what we thought they were, but Petra is still out there. That monster is still out there." Jesse said again. I noticed a pair of spiral stairs that were pushed off into a dark corner, completely made of quartz. "Where do these stairs go?" I asked, calling them over. "One way to find out." The brunette said, beginning his trail up them. I followed shortly behind, eager to know what was at the top of the white stairs. As we ventured to the top, we came across a huge room. It was lit up from the sun gleaming in the distance; broken walls letting it through. Hints of quartz were here and there, and there was a large map posted into the wall. "Now this is cool." Axel said. "Wow." Jesse and I said in unison. "What happened to the walls?" Axel asked. "More like what happened to the whole place." I said, answering his question. This time it was Olivia's turn to talk, "This must have been where they met." "So where are they then?" I facepalmed at Axel's question. "Gabriel said that once we find the temple, the amulet would lead us to the Order of the Stone." "Well what are you waiting for then? Take it out!" I said, practically demanding. Jesse pulled out the amulet and held it in the air for a moment. We all waited for something to happen. Until nothing happened. "Is...something supposed to happen?" Olivia asked. "Very anticlimactic." I spoke up. "There's gotta be something we're missing. Look around and see if you can find anything." And to my surprise, once again, the group disbanded, each of us looking around. I took in the room around us, establishing each little intricate detail about it. I noticed Lukas, sitting and...reading? It caught my attention because I didn't know he liked books too. I made my way over to him and took my place next to him. I guess he must not have heard or seen me because he kept his eyes focused on the pages of the old book. "I didn't know you liked books, Lukas?" This time he heard me because he looked up at me. "I usually don't– I just can't help it with this one. It has stories of the Order of the Stone...It's just so...–" He told me. I cut him off to finish the sentence. "Fascinating?" I said with a smile on my face. His face grew one shortly after. "Yeah." Then, from above us, came two small beams of light, shining directly at different parts of the map that sat also above us. One was green and the other was red. Lukas and I stood up and backed away, making sure we got out of the way for the others to see. "Wow" I muttered under my breath. "This is what Gabriel wanted us to find." Jesse's eyes fixated on the map, his brain hard at work. Then it hit him. "It's the Order! It's showing where they are now!" "Look, we don't know enough about how this thing works. Maybe the amulet only tracks them when they're on the surface. Or maybe it doesn't work when they're in the Nether." Lukas began, then paused. "We have to go off of what we DO know." "Petra's relying on us." I said. "That Wither storm is still out there. We KNOW that Gabriel was trying to tell us something. We've got to find the Order of the Stone." Jesse said, speaking with determination. "But...there's only two lights? There are only two members of the Order left?" Axel inquired. "He said Soren was missing." Jess factually stated. "That leaves Magnus." "Or Ellegaard." "Let's head out." Jesse said with intent on finding one of the two. "I'm not going with you guys, I have to stay here. If I know Petra, she's probably doing everything she can to find this place. She's still out there. She has to be." Lukas layed out. "Are you coming with us, Y/N?" He asked me. "I think it'd be better if I stayed back, I can help Lukas out with things around here." I caught myself saying. I pondered to myself momentarily as to why I wanted to stay back. I just didn't understand why. Maybe it was because it would be easier if Jesse went with less people this time around. Or maybe it was something else. Either way, I just couldn't figure out why I was saying this. "Just...Stay safe, okay?" Jesse said to us, sincerely. "Go. Get help. I'm going to try and focus on making this place safe before nightfall. This temple is pretty big though. If we're going to have a chance at fortifying it, I'm going to need more than one person's help. If, uh, maybe one of you could hang back with us?" Lukas said, laying out even more. Axel and Olivia took turns speaking– Almost bickering. "Sounds like Livi's got you covered while me and Jesse are out finding Magnus." " "Finding Magnus"? You really think that's how it's going to go? We need Ellegaard. She's the world's greatest engineer. She'll figure out a way to stop that thing." "We're trying to DESTROY it. And when it comes to "destruction", Magnus is the master. You're a smart person, Jesse. And obviously the SMART is to go get Magnus." "I, heh, think Axel meant "Ellegaard" there, Jesse." "Uh, no, I don't think I did. Pretty sure Axel meant "Magnus"." "Jesse, the point is, you should be going to Ellegaard's. It's the clear choice to make." "You've got to come with me." "You're my best friend, Jesse." "It's you and me. Like always." "Think about it, Jesse." "This is more of a gut call." "We need to make sure we get this right. We're not going to get a second shot at this." "Whatever you pick, I'll be cool with it." "Really?" "As long as it's me." "Come on, Jesse. This is an easy call." "Uh...goggles." "What?" "I'm running out of things to say." Jesse had a hard time choosing who to go with, I could tell by the unease he spoke with. "Olivia, you and I are going to Ellegaard's." "Awesome." "Axel, you stay here with Y/N and Lukas and get this place ready for when Petra shows up." "What? With that guy?" "I'm right here." "Axel, I'll be here too?" "Come on, Axel. For Petra's sake." "Fine, I'll do it for Petra." "I'll still be here too, y'know." "I'll take it." "Uh...guys?" We all turned to Lukas, wondering why he said that. We watched as the monstrous creator covered the sun in the distance, making it even darker out. It's long tentacle-like arms flailing around in the wind. Lukas turned back to Jesse and Olivia. "Please hurry." Jesse nodded. I gave Him and Olivia a hug goodbye. And with that, he and Olivia set off back to the Nether, intent on finding Ellegaard, the Redstone Engineer...And find themselves in a place of Mechanical Marvels... Redstone Rarities...Amazing machines, limited only by the imagination of their brilliant creator...While the great storm grows, consuming everything in its wake...Time is running out for our intrepid heroes...
