Arthur behaved after that. He kept his promise to stay away from weed and he didn't get into any more fights at school. A month went by.

He managed to keep his dad out of his head most of the time by singing songs in his head. It worked like a charm, at least until his dad muttered that he could change the tune once in a while. He made a sport out of it and thought about really bad songs whenever Niall was around. His dad just chuckled lightly.

He had almost forgotten that everyone around him had special abilities. Almost. His dad hung out with his friends all the time. Once a month they always had dinner together with everyone. It was insane thinking of it. They were 32 people altogether. Except for everyone's partner, Arthur was the only one without an ability if he didn't count the younger children but he was sure they would get an ability too as soon as they hit their teens. In their family group, he was the freak.

At least they didn't use their powers in front of him and he actually liked them all. They had always been there for him and his sisters. His dad had great friends but he didn't say that out loud of course.

"Zayn? Pass the potatoes." Liam said.

They were at Harry's and Louis' house. They were the only ones with a dining room that fit them all.

In the middle of dinner, everyone's phones started buzzing. Louis looked at his phone and wrinkled his eyebrows.
"Harry, turn on the tv."

There was an extra news broadcast announcing a fire at the King's Cross subway station. 
"Guys, it looks bad. We need to suit up. Imagine the casualties." Niall said.

"You're right." Liam agreed.

Harry, Louis, Liam, Zayn, Niall, Darcy, Damien, Dahlia, Dante, Wolf, Eden, Evan, and Claire got up from their seats and headed out of the room. Ten minutes later they had all dressed in their costumes. Niall had made them all and everyone kept a second costume in their car for emergencies.

Arthur just stared at them. He had never felt more jealous. He got up as well and was about to join them when his dad stopped him.
"You have to stay here, Arthur."

"I wanna help too." Arthur protested.

"It's dangerous. You can help out here. Watch the young ones." Niall said.

Babysit? Arthur gasped. He felt belittled.

Before he could protest everyone was out the door and he was left behind at the loser's table having to listen to his sisters whine about having superpowers but being left out.
"I'm indestructible! I should be there!" Abigail said.

"They could use my help too! I can change into anyone!" Avolon pointed out.

Arthur didn't want to spend another second hearing their whines. They had amazing abilities. They should be grateful!
"I'm going home!"

"Your dad told you to stay here." Zayn's wife Gigi said.

"Well, I don't want to." Arthur muttered.

He took his jacket and headed out the door despite everyone's protests. He found a bus but headed in the other direction. He wasn't a child anymore. Even if he wasn't a part of their superhero club he could still help out.

In the meantime,  thirteen people dressed in costumes had arrived at the scene. Niall immediately found one of the captains for the firemen, someone they had encountered many times throughout the years.
"Thank God, the fire is spreading and there's a lot of people trapped inside." The captain informed him.

"We'll get to work then." Niall said.

Zayn, Wolf, Evan, and Liam teamed up. Zayn did his best to control the fire while Wolf used his powers as a human fire hose. Evan and Liam moved clutter to make a path.

Darcy and Claire teamed up as well and used their ability to calm people around them.

Arthur arrived at the scene and immediately saw what Zayn, Wolf, Evan, and Liam were doing and he was impressed. He looked around for his parents and saw his father talking to the firemen while his mum was next to Darcy. A feeling of calmness washed over him so he knew what they were doing.

Dante was talking to a bunch of rats. That sight alone made his head spin. Dante headed over to Niall and the fire captain.
"The fire has spread everywhere. You should try the south side. It's not that bad yet."

The fire captain looked confused.
"Do you have x-ray vision or something?"

"No. I can talk to animals. The rats told me." Dante replied.

"Of course they did. Alright, we will focus on the south entrance then." The fire captain said and shouted instructions to his men.

A wall crumbled and when the fire gained oxygen the flames got out of control. Evan was standing right in front of it. Arthur blinked and suddenly Evan was nowhere near the crumbled wall but Harry was standing next to him. Arthur realized that Harry had stopped time to remove Evan from the dangerous situation. He would gladly give an arm or a leg for an ability like Harry's.

Louis was up in the air, overseeing everything from a different angle. Damien looked really concentrated and Arthur knew that he was listening for people that might be trapped somewhere. 

Dahlia and Eden stood on the sideline but Arthur knew how impressive their abilities were as well. Dahlia could walk through anything and Eden could become invisible.

His emotions were a mix of feeling proud of his family and friends and envy over what they were capable of. He needed to prove himself.

When Wolf and Zayn had managed to tame the fire enough for someone to get through he saw his chance and ran toward the opening. He heard his father shout his name but he didn't stop. Just as he got through he felt a sense of pride but then he suddenly was standing next to his father. He turned his head and saw Harry. Damn it! He had stopped fucking time again and removed him from the situation.

Niall was furious.
"What the hell were you thinking? Get out of here! Now!"

"I can help!" Arthur shouted back.

"It's too dangerous! Get out of the way!" Niall shouted back.

Arthur felt humiliated. He stood by the sideline and watched as his family and friends got control of the fire and saved hundreds of people. Well, if he couldn't be a superhero, he could always be the villain in the future.
