Namjoon opened the door to his house to see Jungkook walking up the stairs. The lights had been off as nobody was home but the two of them.
Typical. Namjoon thought to himself.
Being at home for the blonde could be difficult sometimes. Sure he had Jungkook who had been living with him since they were kids but he missed his Mom.
Namjoon's Mom was a CFO for a pretty well known company in South Korea but because of her job title, she would be gone for weeks, sometimes months at a time. He couldn't even complain, because of her success they live in a nice house and he had gotten everything he ever wanted.
His Mom did try to come home whenever she could to see the two of them and still maintained good relationships with them by calling every weekend.
That's why Namjoon made sure to stick by Jungkook at all times, the younger had already lost his mother and although he wasn't suffering anymore, it was almost like going through the same thing over again.
He wanted to protect him from those thoughts and Jungkook had always let him.
However since the beginning of the school year, he realized that the two of them were distant towards one another. Namjoon had initially thought that student council and his senior activities had taken up so much of his time to really sit down and hang with Kook. He ruled that out though when realizing that he indeed had time to hang out, it was the younger who wasn't communicating much.
He was tired of it, Jungkook was one of his closest friends just like the others but their relationship had been special to the elder. He was an escape from everything outside of that house.
Namjoon sighed, walking up the stairs as well but instead of going to his room, he past his door made his way to the door diagonal from his.
He knocked and just seconds later the door swung open. There had been Jungkook who's cheeks were flushed, and his eyes never met Namjoon's.
At that point, Namjoon knew something was up. "Are you okay?"
Jungkook rubbed the palm of his hands against the side of his black jeans. "Yeah, why?"
"Are you avoiding me?"
Jungkook's eyes widened while still looking down at the ground between them. He cleared his throat before answering, "No."
"You're lying to me," Namjoon began as he leaned against his doorframe. Jungkook's breath hitched at the sudden movement, he didn't get why him leaning like that made him feel like his body was going to burst into flames.
"I'm not. I'm like...really tired hyung," Jungkook lied before making his way to close the door. However the elder pressed his hand on the door to push it back open.
