Bidding Farewell

Sebek and Atlas arrived in a town called 'Queens Town' which Atlas said that this place is believed to be the hometown of the Fairest Queen. He also said that this town has many rare herbs and towering mountains! Atlas said that he grew up near the base of one of the mountains so he knows his way around town.

"Now Krane, where to?"
Sebek said as he got off the bus.

"We should go to the bakery nearby!"
Atlas got off the bus behind Sebek

"Really? A bakery?"

"Well we do need to keep ourselves well-charged. I mean, we are traveling through all of Twisted Wonderland afterall"
Atlas stated

Atlas led Sebek to the bakery he spoke about and as they waited in the line inside, Sebek stared in awe at the displayed foods. He had to remind himself that they were just there for loaves of bread and that was it!
Soon they reached they counter

"Alright what would you like?"

"Two loaves of bread please"
Atlas replied

"Coming right up! Okay sir that will be 35 thaumarks"

"I'll give you 20"

"35 thaumarks is the price"

"25 thaumarks is my finale offer!"

The worker sighed
"Alright I'll take your offer"

Atlas gives the worker the 25 thaumarks and then he and Sebek leave with a bag containing the two loaves of bread.

"Do you negotiate often Krane?"
Sebek asked

"A lot of stuff here can be quite expensive so usually when I'm here yes"
Atlas answered

Atlas walked around the town with Sebek all while reminiscing seeing a lot of old faces that he missed dearly. He just had to be blamed for a horrible crime someone else did and had to run away... He couldn't take it anymore. He gave one of the loaves of bread to Sebek and silently cried.

2 days later

Sebek had gotten a part time job and recently quit since he and Atlas decided it was time to start moving again. He saved up enough money for train tickets too for the both of them!

"Sebek?"
Atlas called for Sebek's name in a nervous tone

"Yes Krane is there something you need?"
He answered

"I uh.. have something to tell you"

"Well what is it? We don't have all day you know"

"..I'm staying here Sebek"

What? Did Sebek just hear this correctly? It had only been a few days and they were getting along so well... surely he heard wrong! Right?

"Terribly sorry but could you repeat that?"

"I'm staying here Sebek. It's where I belong and I just can't bear to leave again!"

"..I understand. I give my condolences to you. Goodbye Krane.."

Atlas quickly hugged Sebek before he could turn away then let go, tears filling his eyes.

"Farewell!"

That was a short-lived friendship wasn't it Sebek?

Sebek couldn't ignore the gut-wrenching feeling he felt as he sat on the train listening to this voice he came to terms with as some part of his soul. Annoying...

You just can't keep up friendships or anything! No one is here to save you Sebek. Not Leona, not Silver, no one. In time death will consume you whole and you'll be left with NOTHING!

The laughter of whoever this was rang through Sebek's mind until he fell asleep
