It was probably about eight o'clock in Ashwood. A young girl named Lynn Mooney was sitting in her living room. She was scrolling on Instagram. Cute videos there. Funny videos here. There were advertisements every five posts. Her screen brightness reflected off her skin. The lighting lit up the room. The only other thing lighting the room was the TV sitting in front of her on mute. She snickered at a post of a kid getting knocked over by a dog. The setting she was sitting in must've been crawling up her spine since she nearly jumped when she got a notification from her friend. Ren. Ren Gannon to be exact. Her and ren had been friends since 5th grade. They were seniors now. Lynn moved to Ashwood with her parents after her home burned down in California. They both remember the day they met. December 15th. A few days before Christmas break.
"Good morning class! Today we have a new student with us." she gave Lynn the signal to walk in. So, she did. Her silky brown hair sat just below her shoulders. She looked at Ren first. The teacher noticed this.
"How about you go sit next to Ren, Lynn." she told her. So, Lynn did. and they became friends that day. They got distant during their freshman year though after Ren got a boyfriend. So it was uncommon whenever she got a message.
She tapped on the notification. It took her to their chat. Ren had texted, " Hey, do you want to come hang out with me, Hannah and Ron? We're at the park." Ron was Ren's boyfriend. Ronnie Lexus was his name. He was always the quiet kid before him, and Ren got together. He started being more outgoing the more him and Ren dated, so Lynn was happy for them at the same time. Lynn smiled. She was happy to finally be invited to something. Especially by Ren. She texted Ren back, "Yeah, I'll be there in about an hour, let me get ready!". Hannah was the mother of the friend group, which by the way, was larger than four. Hannah Morris was the girl that was always pretty without trying. She wasn't a popular girl, yet she still caught many others attention. Her and Lynn never really talked but they were on good terms.
Lynn got up from her recliner. She felt lightheaded due to the fact she got up too quickly. She walked down her hallway and into her room. Her door sat at the end of the hallway. She searched her dresser for undergarments, and jeans. Then she went to her closet and picked out a nice turtle-neck sweater. She grabbed her towel off her bed and walked out of her bedroom, into the bathroom. She undressed. She sat her clean clothes on the toilet lid. She hung her towel over the shower curtain. She left her dirty clothes on the floor. She groaned. She was really tired, but she knew this opportunity only came every so often. She reached her hand into the shower without thought to turn the handle to hot. She screamed in pain when she felt something sharp pierce through her hand. She yanked her hand out and watched it gush blood. She stumbled and fell into the curtains. She wanted to pass out, but she knew she had to try to survive. Suddenly, she felt the curtains wrap around her. All she saw was a tall figure in a black cloak with a Ghostface mask. She gasped for air. The curtain was wrapped around her face, suffocating her. Her attacker pulled their knife out. She panicked but couldn't move. She felt like She was being crushed. The more she thought about it, the more she panicked. They taunted her for a bit until it no longer appealed to them. It seemed the killer couldn't keep control of her for much longer either, because their next move was fatal. They took their knife and dragged its tip across her throat, cutting through each layer of curtain. The knife left a wound in her throat. She was coughing and gasping. The killer dropped her on the floor and left her body there to bleed out in the curtain. It was only about five minutes before she stopped breathing. Forever. Lynn Mooney was presumed dead, April 8th, at 8:32 PM, 2024.
Hannah sat on the slide. She stared off into the distance until something came to mind. "When is Lynn going to get here?" she asked, brushing her hair out of her face. Ren and Ron looked at her and just shrugged. They continued to spin on the merry-go-round. Hannah continued to breathe in the nostalgic air. The park was silent. Lynn's house was silent. Ashwood was silent.
