"HAS THE TOWN GONE MAD?" she said in fear as she tried to keep the door intact. The mayor thought he was playing chess, but he was playing checkers.
"Good morning city hall.." Mayor Hickman had begun slowly. "As you know, few have been murdered due to an unknown suspect or suspects. Us as a community know this is not the first time. However, this will be the last." Jay and Sam stood before the mayor with the rest of the town. "From now on, I want this human dead. Whoever it is, they must die. We will bring Ashwood back from what it's known for." Silence flew amongst the crowd with this being said. A random civilian spoke up. "So you're solving murder by allowing us to murder. I don't think that's the smartest move here. How about something simpler, like curfews, or home security." The mayor looked at the man standing within the crowd. His name was Matthew James. The mayor declined. "I appreciate your concern Mr. James, but now you're suggesting we let these killings slide." He darted back. "Well, Mr. Hickam," Matthew said making his way onto the stage. He was face to face with the mayor now. "Since you're suggesting we go onto a killing rampage, you're basically making it out that you're the killer, because you're the mayor and who would ever assume that, am I correct?" The mayor stood there flabbergasted. He was unable to speak. Finally he looked back at the microphone. "I said what I said. You do what I ask. Have a good day everyone. Goodluck." Hickman finished. "What the actual fuck." Sam said to herself. Jay held his hand to his cheek and cocked his head. "Interesting" Jay said, rubbing the edge of the blade on his pocket knife. "You can't be serious Jay" Sam said pushing him. "What? I have work tonight. It may get dangerous tonight after this." Sam walked away from him in rage. He watched her disappear into the crowd, then looked back at the podium where the mayor was talking to certain civilians up-close. He then turned around and vanished amongst his fellow civilians.
At the coffee shop, Jennifer and Ally sat across from each other, each sipping their teas. "So what is it you want to talk to me about?" Jennifer said as she stared at Ally. "I wanted to speak with you regarding what happened twenty years ago." Jennifer sat her tea down and laid back. "I suppose there's much to be discussed then. Why do you ask?" she asked Ally with genuine confusion. "It's happening again." Ally said without hesitation. Jennifer became pale. She took a deep breath. "Ally... if you want to live, stay away from your friends." she told Ally, excusing herself from the table.
"Wait what, what do you mean?" Ally asked.
"Expect the unexpected, that's all I'll say."
"Why won't you just tell me?" Jennifer got up and looked at Ally. "I'll tell you more later, but..." she looked around the cafe. "Not right now. Not here." Jennifer walked out of the cafe, not speaking another word. Ally sat there and sighed. It wasn't a sigh of relief though. She sighed at the thought that she was so close and yet, got nowhere. She didn't get the info from the massacre survivor she wanted. She looked at the table next to her and noticed a young couple staring at her and whispering. She grew anxious and left a tip for the waitress. She left the cafe and continued home.Sam, Jay, and Mr. Glor were in the theater. They were searching in the backroom for some cute props to use for another tape. "Oh, a sword? This feels pretty real to me." Mr. Glor said as he ran his finger on the edge of the blade. "It is, put that down." Sam said as he noticed Jay knocking some stuff off the shelf, as if he was looking for something specific. Mr. Glor noticed it too and turned to Jay. "Whatcha lookin for there kiddo?" he asked. Jay sighed and stopped rummaging. "Nothing in particular." He said. "Well, there doesn't seem to be anything useful in here so-" Mr. Glor started. "Wait, what's this?" Sam said, stopping Mr. Glor in his tracks. She pulled out last year's yearbook from a small drawer. She skimmed through the pages. She stopped suddenly and winced her eyes on their class page. Her eyes widened and her skin became pale. "What? Let me see that." Mr. Glor said as he snatched the book from Sam. The silence grew in the closet as he pointed out some pictures. The pictures in particular were members from the friend group. They all had black marker on their pictures. Not just some black markings though. These were pictures that resembled something else. Together, they observed Lynns yearbook picture. There was black marking drawn around her neck. A red "X" was covering the picture whole. Koko had devil horns drawn on her head with flames on the side of her, an "X" covering her as well. One other picture had an "X" on it. It was Ronnie. He had black marks all over his body. These markings resembled their deaths. "Wait a minute, how come there aren't-" Mr. Glor began. he stopped and stared at the book without moving. Jay and Sam looked at each other in confusion. *splat* Blood began to pour out of Mr. Glor's mouth. They watched as it carried itself over his underlip, as if it was a small waterfall. Making a small lake on the yearbook page. His body collapsed on the floor. Sam widened her eyes as she stood face to face with a murderer. Should Sam call her a murderer, or her best friend? She stood there, letting fear and anxiety take over body. Jay stared into the eyes no one other than Kai. Kai Ekker, who stood there with the same sword positioned in her hand. The same sword Mr. Glor had touched earlier. The same sword she had just impaled him from behind with. Now only one problem stood in the way.
Kai Ekker.
Friend or foe? They wondered.
