Quality Time

She opened her eyes. It was Monday. The day she always hated. She flipped her blanket off of her and sat up. She looked around her room. It was covered in posters from 'The Last of Us' and her walls were a foggy blue. She looked over her shoulder and huffed.

"Grace, it's time to get up" Koko said. Grace was lying next to her, huddled under the covers. She groaned. Grace was a sweet girl with brownish and ginger hair. She was a little chubby, but that never bothered Koko. When you looked at grace, you thought of Autumn or Fall. Grace was also quite the nature freak and book worm herself. Koko was more of the person who always hoped there was an apocalypse because she thought she'd look cool even though it wouldn't be a show that time.  Koko got up and slipped on some jeans and a blue old navy hoodie. She put her red beanie on and went downstairs to wait for Grace. Grace finally decided to get up as well after about 10 minutes. Grace wanted to look very nice since it was the first day of the week. She was a very fashionable person. She slipped on some brown kakis, a tan turtle-neck sweater and then put her orange plaid jacket over it. She then went into the bathroom, put up two buns on her head and left the rest to sit below. She grabbed her book bag and met Koko downstairs.

"Do you wanna drive today or wait for the bus?" Koko asked her.

"Well, I'm sure the bus has already been by. Plus, we can stop at Starbucks and get some coffee. I think we need some quality time."

"Some? Girl, we have quality time every night."

"Ok, so what. I want a damn cappuccino."

Koko rolled her eyes. "Ok whatever, I guess coffee does sound pretty good right now." she agreed, snatching her keys and heading out the door with Grace.  They got in the black jeep and took off down the road. Koko looked at the temperature.

"Damn, its hot outside today. How are you wearing that?" she asked, looking Grace up and down. Grace looked surprised and looked down at her outfit.

"I don't care. I thought it was cute." she said with a scoff. They continued their way to Starbucks with complaints here and there about the outrageous heatwave. Finally, they pulled into the drive thru and ordered their items. They sat in the parking lot and drank what they ordered. They really didn't want to go to school.

"What do you think about this whole killer thing?" Koko turned an asked Grace. She wasn't ready for Koko to ask that of all things, so she had a frightened look on her face.  Koko noticed this.

"I don't know. I don't think it's really our business. We should probably stay out of it and let the police deal with it."

"Seriously? It's Ashwood. The police aren't doing shit around here except pulling over cars going 30 MPH on a fucking express way." Koko nudged. "Plus, Lynn is- well... was our friend. It feels like it's our job to find who did this. They broke the peace in our town, killed our friend, and here we are sitting in a Starbucks parking lot, drinking coffee instead of being at school." she sat her drink down in our cup holder.

"Aren't you going to finish your drink?"

"I'm not really thirsty." She said as she pulled out of the parking lot. They were about to drive on to road when suddenly a white SUV didn't stop and almost t-boned them. Koko slammed on the brakes. "Stupid fucking idiots."

They finally arrived at school and saw that everyone was hanging out on the stairwell. Well not everyone. It was Sam, Ally, Jay, and Chris.

"Where's everybody else at?" Koko asked Ally.

"Either not here or in class." Ally said, shrugging. Koko nodded her head and sat down. Chris was on his phone. From the look in his eyes, he was definitely researching something.
