Hollis hoists the basket up against her chest and startss the walk back to her village. She spends the entire morning picking blackberries. She loves blackberry pies, so she will not miss the chance to get lots of them.

Her parents must be worried because she also left without having breakfast. Her brother is going to scold her for that. He was a tad too protective. She wasn't a child anymore.

People her age were already married with at least two kids. Not that she wants to be hitched to a control freak. Plus no guys in her village meet her standard.

Most were her height, and she liked them bigger than her. She wants someone she can cuddle with. At this point, she's just dreaming. The only man up to her standard hates the people of her village, so he doesn't come anywhere near them.

She finally got back to her village. Her brother Brandon popped out of nowhere startling her.

"You can't just disappear like that, Hollis," he scowled.

"I went berry picking."

Brandon took the basket and carried it inside for her. She pouts and just follows him.

"Making pie?"

"People are willing to buy them from me."

"Look at you all grown up."

"I'm 24 Brandon."

"You'll always be my little sister."

She smiles and starts on her pies. Brandon washed and dried them for her before he left to bother some poor girl.

She spent hours putting pies together. She did some today and some the next. She needs to go get some mushrooms for dinner.

She let her mom know about the pies, got her small basket, and headed out to get the mushrooms. She hates mushrooms, but her dad loves them.

They are gross.

She enters the forest, and if she remembers correctly, the ones her dad likes grow by the river. She has never been down to the larger river cause there's a small river closer to the village.

She saw a few more blackberries, so she picked those. There's no point in leaving them.

She got to the river, and there were a lot of mushrooms. She starts picking as much as she possibly can before the sun goes down. She will get enough so she won't have to come down for more anytime soon.

Her attention fell on the water as she saw movement. She turned fully, and her eyes widened when she saw eyes looking at her.

The eyes happen to belong to Rune. He's the one guy no one dares to cross.

He rose out of the water, and her eyes fell to the water running down his chest.

How can someone not like him? She doesn't understand what's so bad about him.

"Hi! Sorry if I interrupt your bath."

He sits on a boulder and just lookss at her.

"Bye!" She turns and starts making her way back to her village.

How bad can Rune be exactly? He look like a normal, unusually large guy to her.

Maybe she will see him again.
