They managed to travel out of town, making their way to a greener landscape, there was a perfectly petite bridge. She smiled to herself "Perfect" he looked at her in awe. She really seemed to know what she was doing. He couldn't help but be impressed with her. Just before crossing a road to get to the bridge, she saw a car moving closer, black with no plates. She faced Colin "Kiss me!"

"huh"

"someone's coming" she grabbed him, receiving no pushback, she kissed him deeper as his hands made their way around her back. Holding her close.

She pulled away all of a sudden "They're gone"

"Who?" she motioned her arm along the road "Didn't you see the car?" she scoffed.

"I was a bit preoccupied!" he shot back. Didn't see or even hear that car. All he could do was feel her, hear his own heart thump in his chest. He knew she was just being tactical. But God dammit, he liked her.

What was that car doing so far out here. The bridge no longer seemed like a good idea. If they were here, no telling how much further they needed to get.

"We need to change, under the bridge. Then carry on. I don't know how far we can get on foot" he nodded, feeling a bit sheepish. What else could he do to help. He wasn't a warrior. He wasn't a hero.

What if all he would do is slow her down. "I need to leave?" it was more of a statement then a question "Jane, I will slow you down" she shook her head "No you won't. We have gotten this far" he touched her cheek softly "If you get hurt, trying to protect me, I couldn't live with myself" she stuttered "No!"

"Jane..."

"No. Please stay with me. You are the only person... I know. Only one I trust"

Her logic made sense, after all she didn't know anyone. He is the only one she knew, but that could change anytime. Her memory may return and he didn't want her to waist her time on him, when he could slow her down. It wasn't even that he was a coward, far from it, but the thought of her being injured or killed because of him, hurt. It hurt so damn much.

"You will do better without me, especially if they are looking for two people now" She knew he was starting to understand, but she didn't want to do this alone.

"Colin, I need you" he stopped, breathed in sharply and she repeated softer "I need you." He had never been needed before, not by anyone in his life. She seemed sincere as if the thought of being out on her own terrified her to her very core. She needed him.

Colin don't be such an ass, he told himself in a judging manner. When a woman uses that tone of voice, those big boy shorts needed to be put on.

"Okay" he put his hands on her shoulders, looking down at her with such intensity that it made her knees weak. He needed her to believe his words "I will stay" he didn't know if it was his imagination, but he swore he saw her eyes shimmer. Maybe it was just the light.

He heard a car arriving, with a swift move he pushed her back against the wall of the bridge, in the shadows, the mud was cold under their boots.

His hand went over her mouth. The car kept going and he gave a relieved breath. Slowly she put her hand on his, pulling it from her lips. He was at an angle where he was towering over her, arching around the shape of the bridge.

Their eyes met. Jane looked him up and down. Unsure why they were still standing a mere foot away from each other.

His breathing was becoming more rapid. She could see his chest go up and down as he watched her.

Then he surprised her. He kissed her. She motioned back but was unsure why he wanted to kiss her. This kiss was different, more determined, more emotion, his hand began moving down her frame to the small of her back then pulled her closer to him.

She gasped moving her hands down the features of her face. Curious of how the rest of him would feel closer to her. The air seemed to swirl, she was feeling lightheaded. Numb, then stopped.

She sensed something coming. It didn't feel the same. It was dark and drenched in blood.

She pushed Colin to the ground, forgetting her own strength. "Colin, there is something here" he looked up frustrated. Could he not have one goddam minute alone with her "The soldiers?"

"No! Something else, we need to leave right now!"

A shriek echoed through the hills. Colin's eyes widened, he whispered "What the fuck was that" she gritted her teeth "I. Don't. Know"

Gunfire. GUNFIRE!

They both froze, Jane held Colin against the wall, putting her finger to her lips, he nodded. Feeling like they had been motionless for at least half an hour when the rain started. First lightly, before a downpour.

Were those footsteps. No, they sounded heavier. Thumping, almost like big foot himself was walking along the bridge, sending vibrations and loose debris to fall over their heads.

A large growl, as the entity moved to the side of the bridge. Its breath coming out like steam. Both sets off eyes were edging toward the entrance of the bridge. Gurgling. Drooling.

An arm reached around into the tunnel. Scales protruding out of its arms, a shimmer of red dripped from its claws. A roar! Gunfire again. Then the creature dropped with a slap.

Ten men ran around it, chained it down, waiting for it to be air lifted. One man glanced in the tunnel and gasped "Misha?"

Was the man looking at her, she questioned herself. He didn't look like he wanted to kill her. He looked almost. Relieved. That made no sense.

The chains were no use, the creature clawed its way out. Snapping at the men one at a time, draining their life. They both watched in terror. Once finished, the creature made its escape.

Leaving the helicopters destruction in its path. The rain was rushing the blood downstream. Colin turned slowly "What the actual Fuck?" Joan murmured "What the fuck, indeed"

"That man saw you didn't he, he said 'Misha' could that be your name?"

"I don't know" shaking her head "I mean, I still don't remember"

"Maybe, those people following you don't want to kill you, maybe they want to help you"

She scoffed "They were aiming their guns at me, remember. I can't imagine they wanted to give me tea and biscuits!"

"Well, I'm pretty sure that they may be a safer bet that the other" he had to think of the right word for a second "Thing!"

He was probably right. What if he wasn't though. She didn't want to be in any more danger than they were already in.
