My heart raced as I stood outside the ICU, anxiously awaiting news about Haerin.

It had been almost a week since we last saw her, and now, she was back, but her condition told a tale of torment.

"Seriously, what the hell could have happened to her?" Hanni's frustrated groan echoed my thoughts as we all huddled in the sterile hospital waiting area.

The one responsible for Haerin's suffering had apparently dosed her with drugs until she collapsed on top of me.

The doctor was now inside, assessing the damage, and the atmosphere was heavy with concern.

"Let's just hope for the best," Hyein suggested, her voice a mixture of worry and prayer.

The rest of us nodded in agreement, silently acknowledging the severity of Haerin's situation.

My gaze shifted to Minji, her posture rigid, arms crossed, and a stoic expression on her face.

Trying to distract myself from the anxiety, I got up and started pacing.

"Is Haerin going to make it?" Hanni's voice quivered, desperation evident in her eyes. Hyein and Dani attempted to console her, but the uncertainty lingered.

"We don't know, but... her condition is critical. Let's not dwell on the worst-case scenario," I urged, hoping to provide some semblance of comfort, even though my own worry was palpable.

The ICU door swung open, drawing our collective attention.

The doctor emerged, and we approached him, our anticipation building.

"What's the update on Haerin?" I inquired.

He hesitated before responding, "She... she's stable for now, but..."

"But what?" Dani pressed, her eyes narrowing with concern (?)

"But she's in a coma," the doctor revealed.

Exhaling deeply, I glanced at Haerin, lying motionless on the hospital bed, trapped in a profound coma.

My mind buzzed with frustration, and I bit my lip, pondering the situation.

The police had visited to check on her, but acquiring any useful information felt like a futile endeavor with Haerin in an unconscious state.

There's even a police officer stationed here for her safety.

We've spent over 11 hours in the hospital now, and an unsettling feeling loomed in the air.

Something was undoubtedly brewing; I could feel it in my bones.

My instincts, like an alert guardian, sensed an impending storm.

Mrs. Kang, Haerin's mother, sobbed in her husband's arms, seeking comfort as she gazed at her comatose daughter.

"My daughter wasn't the type to get herself in trouble," she sobbed, casting a somber atmosphere over us.

"And who could have kidnapped her without even demanding money from us? Who would do this to my sweetie?" Mrs. Kang mumbled, desperately searching for answers.

We were all at a loss.

"Aunty, the police are doing their best to investigate, and we should be grateful we got Hae back," Hanni tried to console her, injecting a bit of hope into the gloomy room.

But really, who the fuck had kidnapped her?

"Aunty, you should head home and get some rest," Y/n suggested gently. Mrs. Kang shook her head vigorously.
