It was safe to say that in the annals of history, that no one could describe Alexander Gabriel Claremont-Diaz as patient.

Sure, maybe on the very niche fact that he was waiting for his shot at the presidency he was, but everything else? Absolutely not. Which is why, come a few months into being a high-profile lawyer and Henry being involved in more royal duties since his mother ascended to the throne (suck it Mary), Alex was itching for a break. A right the fuck now break to be precise.

Only problem was, that Henry - beautiful, overworked, but oblivious Henry - was one of those men who sadly managed to slip out of Alex's grasp at the last second when it came to spending time together without being interrupted. If it wasn't Alex's phone ringing off the hook, it's Shaan coming in to brief Henry on his engagements for the day. If Henry's able to find time enough to read a book, Alex is typing furiously away on his laptop like a madman.

This, of course, had led to a stalemate. A stalemate that Alex was hellbent on fixing and had somehow kept out of Henry's sight for the past 2 months as he worked behind the scenes to make it happen. He was going to take them somewhere a world away from theirs.

The Maldives. Not only was it a dream destination for both of them, but given Alex had made that joke so long ago when Her Royal Witchness tried her best to end them (again, suck it Mary) - it just seemed very fitting.

It didn't come without its implications however, as he knew Henry, being a prince and a damn good one at that, would never be able to just pack his bags and leave without a proper explanation to people in charge, much less his own mother or worse.

So, with all that in mind and not a lot of time until the vacation booking date he'd set, Alex came up with a bold plan – he was going to kidnap Henry.

It was a risky move, kidnapping your own boyfriend and the spare to the British throne at that but Alex was determined to make it work somehow.

He knew Henry would be hesitant at first to go along with such a plan, but given they'd had their fun in secret, Alex was confident it would work out in the end and once they were on the white sandy beaches away from it all, Henry would forget all about his worries and Alex would be content watching the latter be as happy as he made him feel.

So he plans, he begs, he goes through the right channels he needs to make this happen (and a lot of the wrong ones to throw Henry off the scent) and soon enough, the clock is ticking as he lies in bed watching it like a hawk, in England, his stomach to Henry's back after surprising him by flying in from the brownstone, waiting for the time to read midnight before his plan is put into motion.

He easily slips away reluctantly from Henry's form and starts shoving items into bags, knowing everything to bring off by heart from how long he's spent in this wing of Kensington as well as the whole palace. He knows Henry will want to strangle him later for just stuffing his belongings into a weekender and wrinkling them, but he hopes in the face of being on vacation that Henry's normal ire will be cooled.

Soon enough, the car that Shaan's "accidentally left out" in the drive is loaded up and Alex now only has one more thing to put in...and he can't wake it up.

Picturing it from an outside view, Alex can see that this scene - him, dishevelled in a half-buttoned shirt and jeans, crab walking and carrying (or really, deadlifting) a still asleep Henry who was blissfully unaware of anything happening down the stairs - would look either really funny or worse, really creepy.

He tries not to dwell on it as he somehow manages not to knock Henry into anything and situate him into the front passenger seat without much fuss strapping him in and then bundling him into a blanket that's wound around him enough that he can't wiggle free and suddenly escape.
