This bullshit sucks~

I said to myself, staring out of my uncle's old car's window, resting my head on the slightly dusty glass while the song "Swim" by Chase Atlantic played at a medium volume in my earphones.

The only thing keeping me entertained other than the many trees passing by as we drove to our "new home." Yeah, right. I wonder how many months I can get out of this one before we have to pack up and move all over again.

My eyes turned in the direction of my uncle, who was driving while drinking a soda. His focus didn't leave the road once. Maybe a couple of words shared to check on me or to remind me to check on Blake in the back seat. But his eyes were stuck like glue to that road.

I could cut my finger, and he'd just pull out a band-aid out of his pocket unbothered, still focused on that damn road. My body slowly shifted to sit up straight as I lay my head on the headrest. My eyes were now glued to the road as a distraction watching the double yellow lines on the ground.

"Y/n, could you pass me the snickers?"

I took in a deep sigh before reaching into a plastic bag that was on the ground to fulfill my uncle's request. I grabbed a little snack for myself too while I was at it, before handing over the candy bar to him.

"How much longer?"

I said while opening my little bag of sour patch kids and taking out one of my headphones to make sure I could hear him clearly this time.

"About 10 minutes until we're into town, 25 minutes until we get to the house."

I nodded while taking another bite of my candy. I can't say I'm too excited, though. Other than the fact that after we get our sleeping bags set up, I can finally rest after this long ass drive.

18 years later, you still can't find a decent town to raise your niece long enough for her to settle down.

But I can't say that, I know how hard my uncle works to take care of us. After all, it's not his fault that my parents passed away when I was a baby, and he had to take responsibility for his brother's kid. Since it was pretty much just us who were left. It was either that or foster care. But he wouldnt have the heart to do that and risk my safety.

I can't say that we're close, though. I mean, don't get me wrong, I respect my uncle very much. But growing up, he didn't give me a father figure feeling. It's more like I'm here to be your legal care provider until you're 18 and graduated from high school. Although I have known him my whole life, it feels like I am living with a stranger or just a roommate.

At least I have Blake, though. He's the only thing I actually felt the emotion of love from.

My attention turned towards him. He was still asleep in his cage with his mouse toy. He usually sleeps like this even off the road. Well, unless he's hungry for some type of food.

This is probably the reason why we're so close. We pretty much do the same thing every day. Eat and sleep.I guess spiritual animals are real after all.

I moved my body back to facing the road when I saw a sign pass by that said, "Welcome to Whitechapel."

Finally, we are here in this dumb new town.

After around a time range of 30 minutes, we found the new house we will be living in for the next year. From the looks of it, it's pretty big, and has lots of space for just 2 people and a cat. Not that I'm complaining since I like my alone time.

"Home sweet home"

My uncle said in a neutral tone as he got out of the car to walk towards the trunk. Grabbing whatever we could fit in there that we needed until the moving truck gets here, which won't be until tomorrow.
