"How did you sleep?"
Y/N came down the hallway rubbing their eyes to see Ragatha sitting down in a chair at the dining table crocheting.
"Alright, I guess.." They answered groggily and quietly.
"Yeah, the first night here can be rough, but you get used to it after a while, like everything else."
Y/N nodded, and hesitantly sat beside Ragatha, watching her.
"What are you making?" They asked her.
"A tiny carousel."
Y/N was getting hungry. "Um.. W-Where can I get some food?" They asked Ragatha.
"We usually get it as a reward for completing a group adventure. But you can ask Caine if you can have some right now." She replied hopefully.
"Ok...where's C-Caine?"
"Oh he's somewhere. He should be here in a little bit." Ragatha answered.
Jax walked into the room. "Nah. You'll starve."
Y/N started nervously twiddling their thumbs and looked down.
"Jax.." Ragatha said through gridded teeth. She was almost finished with the crochet tent already.
"Whaaaaat?" He smirked. "Just having some fun with the new kid."
Ragatha glared at him. He rolled his eyes.
"You can't starve here. In the digital world, you never actually need to eat, necessarily. You can feel hungry, but the food is just a sensation to make it seem as though you're eating." Ragatha explained.
Y/N made a little anxious sound. Jax opened his mouth to say something but then Ragatha darted a sharp look at him and he closed his mouth and crossed his arms.
"Good morning everyone!" There was a loud pop as Caine teleported into the tent suddenly, making Y/N jump.
"Good morning." Ragatha replied. "Y/N here was wondering if they could have some breakfast."
"Ah! You're in luck my friend! Today's absolutely whimsical adventure's reward is a feast! Why don't we start it up?" He snapped his fingers and then everyone who wasn't outside their rooms yet appeared in the room. "Today's adventure is... 'Plant Pandemonium!'" The name he said appeared in the sky with colorful letters in the Comic Sans font.
"Well that sounds stupid." Jax said bored.
"Each of you will have plant pots, and you must grow the tallest flower! The only materials you may use are fertilizer and water." Caine continued, ignoring Jax.
"This sounds like fun, right Y/N?" Ragatha asked happily.
"Oh- um.. yeah..." Y/N was looking into space.
"What is it?" Ragatha laid a gentle hand on their shoulder.
"It's just..." Y/N started shaking. "Will I ever see my family and friends again?"
Jax scoffed. "'Course not."
Y/N started breathing very fast.
"I-It's ok." Ragatha reassured, glaring daggers at Jax. "You'll..um.. get used to being without them-" Y/N stood up suddenly.
"'You'll get used to it', that's all I've ever heard since I landed in this weird and twisted world!" They yelled. Everyone who was standing slowly backed away. "I'll never see anyone I've ever loved ever again!"
"Calm down Y/N." Ragatha said gravely.
"I'm sick of this place!" Y/N's body started glitching slightly, and they started grimacing and making noises that could be clearly seen they were in pain. Black spots started appearing all over their body. Small, colorful glowing eyes starting growing on the spots.
"Y/N!" Pomni stepped forward and reached her hand out.
"Stand back." Caine warned, making Ragatha teleport by everyone else so that she was out of Y/N's reach.
"Chill out new stuff." Jax said.
Y/N's breathing slowed down and they closed their eyes. The black spots disappeared and they stopped glitching.
