ALAYNE, 134 AC

Aemond tasted soft and fresh and full of broken promises. His kiss was gentle yet firm, and he held her reverently, as if she were the most precious thing in the world. Her heart raced when he pulled her just a hair's breadth closer, tightened his grip just a little bit stronger. Butterflies tickled low in her belly, and something awakened that had been asleep for so very long.

Her head spun so fast she feared she would topple over, and she swayed forward from her dizziness. The hand that rested against her cheek slid down her shoulder and arm to grasp hers, leaving behind a trail of gooseflesh, and all the while, his lips never parted from her own.

It was as if all time had stopped just for them.

Alayne blinked her eyes open when his hands squeezed hers, and she forced herself to pull away, leaving her breathless. As she met Aemond's gaze, saw him stare at her with an eye half closed, Alayne felt bile rise into her throat.

This was the first time she'd kissed anyone since her beloved had left her, and though she'd sworn never to do so again, Alayne had enjoyed Aemond's kiss.
