Faith's P.O.V
12:09 P.M. Just 21 more minutes until I can be released from the hospital. I was so ready to leave. It had been 3 days since surgery. And, 3 days since the apartment. Connor and Noah want to know exactly what happened, but I still can't remember it all. I told them what I remember, when dad called me a liar and broke my arm and knees, but that's all I have for now. I lung forward off the bed for my wheel chair and land safely in it's seat. I was getting used to using it, since I also would for the next week or so, until I can get onto crutches. I wheel around to the dresser under the T.V. and grab my last set of clothing, my green t-shirt from dance camp, and short navy blue athletic shorts. I change into them while still sitting in the chair and take my hospital gown to the bed. I look to the clock again.
12:15 P.M. UGGHHH. This is taking forever. At this rate, I won't be out of here until I can walk again. I grab my laptop and just as I turn it on, grandma and grandpa walk into my room.
"There's our little fighter," Grandma said as she set a single daisy on my dresser. I put my laptop back and went over to give them a hug.
"It's so good to see you guys!" I said as the both enveloped me in a hug. Grandma smelled like her perfume she always wears. I love it because it reminds me of Christmas. "How did you know I was here?" I asked. As I hugged grandpa.
"Oh, Connor called us and said you were in the hospital so we decided to come and see you," Grandma said.
"Now, where's your mother and father at?" Grandpa asked. I didn't want to be the one to tell them what happened.
"Umm, I don't know, actually, probably with Connor since Noah is at school," I lied. I felt bad not telling them the truth, but I didn't know how to.
"Oh, well we just saw Connor and they weren't with him," Grandma said. I tried to cover it up.
"Oh, then they probably went back home to get stuff ready. They said they were going to do that today," I said. After that, we started picking up the room and turned on some of my favorite music. They said I was doing really good getting around and doing stuff. Grandpa was amazed at how I didn't let a broken wrist and dislocated knees get me down.
Once everything was packed up, grandma pulled out some snicker doodles from her purse and we started eating those. It was the first real food I had eaten in days. I looked at the clock.
12:26 P.M. Connor should be coming back up any minute now, he just had to fill out forms so that they had me on records. Grandma and Grandpa went to pull the car around front, so I was left in the room alone again. I tried to reach the T.V. remote, but it was too high up. I pushed myself off the chair a bit and tried holding on the shelf for balance. I retrieved the remote and let go of the shelf. I fall back in my chair and turn on the T.V. It was still on the news channel, so I decided to see what story filled our place now. I looked at the headline on the bottom of the screen:
"Brothers save sister from drunk father." Uh oh. It was still us, just with different details. Connor walked into the room along with Rosemary.
"Hey, Faith, you're good-" I cut him off.
"Connor, look what they did with our story," I said, pointing to the box of lies sitting on the wall.
"Early Saturday morning, neighbors in this apartment complex hear banging and yelling coming a few doors down. When we looked back at the night watch tapes, we see a horror story unfold." They cut to the footage. "A drunk man walks to this apartment door and tries to open it. After 5 minutes he is seen pounding on the door and yelling for someone to come get it. We can then hear a girl yelling from the inside that she will be there in a minute. She then makes a phone call."
