Just as we began to take in our surroundings, a loud honk jarred us from our thoughts. A taxi had swerved to avoid us, the driver shouting something unintelligible from his window. We quickly scrambled to our feet and moved to the sidewalk, the reality of our situation sinking in.

"We're...we're back on Earth," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. Yugo stared around himself, uncertainty flickering in his eyes as he took in the bustling city around us. His hand tightened around mine, a silent plea for reassurance amidst the unknown.

Earth, a world so familiar to me, felt foreign and overwhelming through Yugo's eyes. He was a citizen of the tranquil World of Twelve, ill-prepared for the noisy chaos of an Earthly city. His confusion was palpable as we navigated through the crowd, his wide eyes taking in the unfamiliar sights and sounds.

Our journey had veered off its expected path and Yugo was thrown into a world he didn't understand, his fears mirrored in the tight grip he had on my hand. Yet, I saw determination in his gaze, a resolve that transcended his fear. We were lost in a world unknown to him, relying on our wits, our courage, and each other, but Yugo was ready to face the challenges Earth had to throw at us, determined to find our way back to the World of Twelve.

I looked around, and realised I was in my front yard. The time of day was close to when I left, as if no time had passed at all. "Y/N THE PANCAKES WON'T EAT THEMSELVES!!!" I heard, shocking me into reality. I turned around and pulled Yugo towards the house, entranced by the smell of pancakes, as I hadn't eaten all day, other than a few marshmallows.

As I pulled Yugo into the house, the smell of pancakes filled the air, making my stomach growl. My mum was in the kitchen, flipping pancakes on the stove, her back to us.

"Mum," I called, my voice shaking slightly. She turned around, her eyes widening in surprise as she saw Yugo standing next to me.

"Who's your friend, Y/N?" she asked, her eyes darting between me and Yugo.

"This is Yugo," I explained, my words stumbling over each other in my rush to explain. "He's from... out of town. He's lost and he needs a place to stay until he finds his way back home."

My mum looked at Yugo, her eyes softening. "Well, we've got a guest room. You're welcome to stay with us until you find your way," she offered, turning back to the stove to flip another pancake.

Yugo looked at me, his eyes filled with gratitude. "Thank you, Y/N," he said quietly. "And thank you, Mrs. Y/L/N."

With that settled, we sat down to eat, the aroma of the pancakes making my mouth water. As Yugo tasted his first pancake, his eyes lit up in delight. Watching him, I couldn't help but smile. It was a small moment, but it was the start of our journey together on Earth - a journey that I knew would be filled with many more unexpected surprises.

The school day passed in a blur of familiar hallways, classrooms, and the hum of students going about their routine. I couldn't help but steal glances at the empty seat beside me, imagining Yugo sitting there, experiencing the mundane yet essential aspects of Earthly education.

As the final bell rang, I hurriedly made my way home, eager to share the news with Yugo. Opening the front door, I found him engrossed in a book from our living room shelf, his fascination evident in the way he turned each page with genuine curiosity.

"Hey, Yugo!" I called out, catching his attention. "I'm back. How was your day? Yugo looked up from the book, a smile lighting up his face. "It was interesting. I found this book about your world's history. It's amazing!"

I grinned. "Glad you're enjoying it. So, while I was at school, I talked to the principal and got everything sorted for you to start attending with me. He was surprisingly understanding about the fact that you're starting half way through the year. I told him that you were homeschooled up until now. And by the way, here is your uniform." I handed him the folded up clothes.

Yugo's eyes sparkled with excitement. "That's fantastic! I can't wait to see what your school is like." "Great! But for now, I thought we could take it easy, maybe explore the neighbourhood a bit more," I suggested.

Yugo agreed, and together we ventured outside. As we strolled through the familiar streets, I pointed out various places—local shops, the park, and even the ice cream stand. Yugo's eyes widened with each new discovery, and his infectious enthusiasm brought a fresh perspective to the ordinary.

Eventually, the day came that Yugo arrived at school for his tour, and I showed him around the campus, explaining the layout of classrooms, the cafeteria, and the library. He absorbed every detail, eager to embrace this new chapter of his Earthly adventure.

On our way home, I stopped by the school office to complete Yugo's registration. The school staff were surprisingly accommodating, offering warm smiles and support as we navigated through the paperwork. Yugo's registration was finalised, and he was officially enrolled in my school.

Back home, we celebrated the small victory with a homemade dinner. My mum, intrigued by Yugo's presence, joined us at the table, and we filled her in on the day's events. She welcomed Yugo into our home, appreciating the uniqueness of the situation.

As the evening unfolded, we gathered in the living room, each absorbed in our own activities—Yugo flipping through books, my mum engrossed in a novel, and me catching up on homework. The air was filled with a sense of contentment, a realisation that even in the midst of the extraordinary, life continued with its comforting, everyday rhythm.

As the night settled in, I suggested that Yugo take it easy for the next couple of days to fully acclimate before starting school. It was an adjustment period, and we wanted him to feel at ease in his new surroundings.

Little did we know that this impromptu journey, sparked by magical wings and a mysterious portal, had woven our lives together in ways we couldn't have predicted. And so, we embraced the uncertainty, ready for whatever the next chapter of our shared adventure might bring.
