010 -- old habits
What Adelaide hadn't expected was to find herself ending the night by squeezing between tight crowds in a ten-floor mansion on Figure Eight. It was already so late, and her eyes roamed the place for Rowan as she pushed through stumbling bodies. Rowan Davis was one of her few Kook friends from Kildare Academy. After hanging at the Wreck, the girl had received a sloppy text message begging for her help and with an address copied onto the chat. Considering the Pogues were all headed home and curiosity won her over, Adelaide decided to actually head to the house and check out what Rowan needed. Besides, she wasn't tired enough to get to her own house, and Adelaide liked to appreciate of the night's peace once in a while. She wandered around Figure Eight and her eyes eventually set on a rich-kid pool party with what seemed like thousands of Kooks drunkenly slumping around and cheering at whatever. After a second, Adelaide found herself reeled in, and told herself she was simply looking for Rowan and making sure she was okay, that she hadn't been roofied or some shit.
She greeted a few friends here and there before actually abandoning her search for Rowan, the girl being nowhere in sight. She huffed, peering around her and wondering how she was going to get home. Well, until her body was pulled by someone else, threatening to knock her off her balance. "Oh my god, Adelaide! Thought you'd never come," a girl exclaimed, hugging the girl. Chloé LePage.
Chloé was a nice girl, a little too giddy for her taste, but nice. Adelaide remembered her times hanging out with the short blond, and each one of them ended up with her and a throbbing headache. "Sorry for the short notice," she laughed. "Have you seen Rowan?"
"Nu-uh," Chloé shook her head. "But, oh my god, stay."
Adelaide wondered how many times she was going to use the phrase 'oh my god' in a few minutes, and tightened her lips to prevent a laugh. "I don't know--" she mumbled, though she couldn't ignore the fact the whole thing was enticing her. Adelaide wasn't known for ditching a party.
"Come on, you even have your bathing suit on," Chloé said, pointing to her attire. It was true, Adelaide had her flower-patterned bikini on underneath her shorts and top from earlier today, so her reasons were all pointing to her stay at the party. Though, she felt a wave of guilt wash over her as she thought of the Pogues, and their alienation towards this world.
"Fine, I guess I can stay a bit." Adelaide gave in, a small smile quirking her lips. Immediately, a drink was shoved in her empty hand and Chloé had moved on to the next person, obviously taking her role as host to heart.
Adelaide took pleasure chatting with some of the Kooks, the expensive champagne bubbling to her mind and enveloping her body with warmth. Within half-an-hour, she was dancing along with them, sipping onto Prosecco and dancing again. Now, Adelaide wouldn't actually appreciate spending her summer with them, but the parties were always fun enough. Plus, they were a subtle distraction from her feelings (or not) for JJ, that were sometimes too much for her to handle.
