MY NAME IS SUSAN JANE LYNNS.
Nobody knew me. At least, they didn't yet. Not until I strung up the professor. She'd always been my least favorite. Calling me a freak. A psychopath. A cracked shell. But I would show her. I'd show her that I was not just a freak. I was a freak with flare.
Professor Lotus smiled condescendingly at me, a judgemental light burning in her eyes. "Miss Lynns, you have the answer to my question I presume. After all, you do have the most experience with maniacal arsonists, yes?"
My fist clenched around my pencil as she brought up my father, but I smiled without a sign of resentment. "Thank you for your confidence, professor. Now, listen up ladies and gents! An arsonists reasons for burning things down usually aren't too complicated. It's most likely going to be some obsession with fire or trauma involving fire. All the others, probably just crazy as fudge."
One of the older boys to the right of me snickered. "Like you, freak?"
I pretended to not hear him. "Have I answered your question thoroughly?"
Professor Lotus muttered for me to sit down.
"Hey, girl genius," the same boy whispered to me. "How'd you get into college so young? Your dad threaten to burn up the place if they didn't let you in?"
I grit my teeth. 'After her,' I thought to myself. 'After she's gone, I'm going to kill you.'
The night grew dark. All of the campus was quiet. Professor Lotus sat at her desk reading through her students' papers.
"Good evening, professor."
Professor Lotus jumped at the sound of my voice. "Lynns! You are out past curfew!"
I laughed in her face. "O-o-oh, you are FUN!" I rubbed my hands together, before pulling out my switchblade. "Okay, let's play a game! I am going to tell you what to do, and you are going to obey! Understood?"
I watched as the woman cowered in fear, her life flashing before her eyes. I didn't expect that to be so satisfying. She nodded while tears formed around her brown irises.
"Now, professor," I said sweetly, "please sit."
She quickly took a seat at her desk.
"Take a pen and paper and write exactly what I tell you to write. Got it?" I waved the blade close to her for emphasis. She nods again.
I cleared my throat and began my oration...
A crowd of people gathered around the gorish spectacle inside of the Psychology classroom. I stopped and put on my most horrified face. The teacher hung from a rope by her neck. A note was attached to her abdomen by a long piece of tape. The boy from my class that always mocked me ripped off the note.
"'I had to do this,'" he read. "'I can't live in the same place as that monstrous child.'" Many eyes turn to me. "'He-' No, this isn't right! 'H-henry made me do it.' What is this? What is this! This is a sick joke!"
I feigned crying. "You killed her, Henry. Why?"
"No, no, I didn't...I--"
"Sir," said a security guard, walking up to him, "you should come with us."
I sent him the smallest of smirks and walked away. Too distraught to attend my other classes...so I said.
