POPPY'S POVit's been a week since Professor Boucher has visited us in our home, this week would be the week of the tests, I truly think I'm not as smart since I usually only use my imaginations half of the time.
Candy cars was created just because I'm obsessed with sweet things, anything sweet would be my favourite, but not the orange chocolates, those are a menace. I quickly place on my skirt and blue sweater on before walking out the front door.
Both my mother and brother stood by the door frame as they watch me enter Professor Boucher's black Acura NSX. As the car door shuts, I waved goodbye at both my mother and brother as the car begins driving off.
Excitement and worry fills the empty void in my heart as I leaned into my seat, unable to think straight as I pray for the tests to go smoothly. "So, do you live with your mother and brother?" Professor Boucher asked as I glanced over at him from my seat. "Oh no, I have a dad to, and I don't blame you for asking, he's always never home." I responded with a hint of uninterest in my voice.
"What does he work as to be away from home all the time?" he questioned confusedly.
"He's a business man, working in an office, I hate him." I scoffed in annoyance, it was hard for me to talk about my dad since whenever he returns home from work he'd only ever start an argument with my mother. He was worst then a raging toddler.
"Well, I think you'll get along fine with Sheldon." I paused metaphorically as I glanced over at the professor. "Who?" i tilted my head confusingly. "Sheldon Lee Cooper, smartest kid I know, with an obsession with professor proton, comic books and biology." the man chuckled as he spoke about this boy named Sheldon.
He seems to like him very much.
"A pain in the ass to, he never stops talking, and the insults? Even horrible then my mother's when she's mad, and he'd usually throw them out when he isn't, which is tremendously impressive." he joked with a cheeky grin. I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought of having a fifteen year old insulting people whenever he liked.
He does sounded like a pain in the ass.
And it was a tad bit funny. "So, enough about Sheldon, I want to get to know you more. What shows do you like?" he questioned as I stayed silent for a minute. "sadly it's Professor Proton, but other then that there's this show called teenage mutant ninja turtles, I just really like talking turtles. My favourite character's Donatello." I excitedly explain about Donatello as the professor listens to my rant intently.
"You seem to like talking turtles alot, did you get a turtle as a pet?" he questioned with a grin, I shook my head slightly with a small smile. "Nope, my dad said turtles are weird and smelly, but I think he's just jealous since I told him that I rather have a rat as a father instead of him." I shrugged.
"Well, what about your favourite book?"
"I don't really have one, but I enjoy reading alot about the Grays Anatomy, the human body is quite intriguing, and not just about the human body, I like to read mostly about animals, I always wish I'd own a zoo so I could protect every animals that are going extinct, or maybe be a veterinarian." I grinned over at him.
"That's impressive." he nodded his head slightly.
"It is, so whenever a bird came crashing down or a squirrel appeared in our front porch, I'll bring them in, feed them then set them free, most of the times they come visit me, and I'll give them treats, they both like either strawberries or nuts." I nodded, agreeing slightly towards my own words.
"Anywho, if you don't mind me changing the topic, if you see a lonely kid playing by themselves outside at a park or anywhere to be honest, what do you feel?" he questioned suddenly as I looked up at him.
"I'd feel sad, and probably play with them too. It doesn't matter who they are, or what they do, bad or good, they don't deserve to be alone, even the devil doesn't work alone." I explained as I fidgeted with my skirt. "Devil? You go to church?" he questioned with a grin.
"Not really, my mom does, I only go if she told me to, other then that, she let's me stay home." I shrugged.
"But do you believe in God?"
I paused, I was now deep in thought as that question was thrown my way. "Well, my mom's very religious, but at the same time, not too religious to force me to believe, and without the forcing, I actually do believe in God, my faith is strong, and it's all because my mom put trust in me, and I'm happy she did." I grinned proudly.
"Not much kids have that privilege." he reminds me as I nodded. "True, and if I have kids in the future, I would follow the way of my mother's. It's probably because her way of teachings allow us to be more open, and to come to our parents whenever we're in trouble without worrying, and like you said, most kids don't have that."
He nodded with a chuckle. "Your very open minded for a fifteen year old." the way he said it made it sound like I'm not suppose to be open minded at this age. "Aren't all fifteen year olds have an open mind like I do? Or do everyone just do drugs and have sex at this age?" i questioned silently, yet my voice wasn't too quiet since I noticed the look on the professors face.
"Well not much teenagers like you have the mind of a 30 year old, maybe Sheldon, but other then that, I don't know anyone else!" he chuckled as he shook his head at probably the thoughts of all the horrible things Fifteen year olds do these days.
I soon realise that it's been a little too long. So I thought I'd bring it up. "We've been on the road for a little too long... When are we getting to the place to test out my IQ?" i questioned.
"Oh sweet little thing, your already being tested." he chuckled, I was quite impressed as I begin looking forward at the road that was infront of us. "So you've been testing me all this while?" i questioned ones again as he nodded in response.
"This car is the office, and I find it rather calming for the kids if we had a nice long drive while I ask questions and test them silently, usually they wouldn't realise they're being tested till the end of the session. But you catch on quite quickly." he chuckled as he took a turn, the soft songs from the radio echoed in my ears as I leaned deeper into my seat.
"Well, did I pass?"
He looks at me as he finally parked the car nearby a restaurant with a grin on his face. "I still have a long list of questions to ask you, so while I ask you, we can have a bite to eat." he winks as I grin up at him with excitement.
"Cool."
