Loneliness was a complex feeling often characterized by a longing for connection and a yearning for understanding.

Being without friends could leave a person feeling like an outsider, and may contribute to feelings of low self-worth.

That's how you felt, didn't you?

When others couldn't provide comfort, you found comfort in yourself. You were your own best friend and found solace within yourself.

You knew your own feelings, beliefs, and needs and were able to provide yourself with what others couldn't.

We're all human, so words hurt.

Words can get to you.

At 12 years old you were alone with your thoughts, unfit to shake those awful words that were thrown at you.

Little girls were mean, you thought.
They would make rumors about you, even though they weren't true.

Called you names.

Pulled your hair.

Gossiping was all they did.

They called you a freak.

Why didn't you ever fight back?

Pathetic

Weak

Good for nothing

Whore

Slut

Bitch

And possibly even some racial slurs.

God, how much more could you handle? The list went on. You even prayed to Him, begging for it to stop. Not even He answered your cries.

Not even the man in the sky interfered with your troubles. All those days going to church didn't help much, huh?

"Let me go!" You cried out.

One of the older girls in your class grabbed you by the hair, dragging you across the floor. She was a lot stronger than you, so your pathetic attempts to escape didn't work.
