As Adam and I sat and waited for Elizabeth and Mark, we watched the sky. I noticed more stars had shown tonight. Were they shining to honor someone's death? Everything scared me today. Why was I going to die? Why was this how it has to end?
When the doorbell rang,I jumped. That was not the way I needed to be taken out of my thoughts. I ran down stairs and opened the door. Elizabeth looked at me with a questioning glance.
Mark stood next to her only a few inches taller. When she remembered his presence her face dropped to a scowl. What had her a bit mad was unbenounced to me.
"Who pissed in your Cheerios," I asked her.
"An angel shat in them. An angel named Mark," she said pointing her finger at the angel currently glancing around our house as they walked in.
Elizabeth headed straight to the living room, Mark following closely behind her. Did he ever leave her side? He was on guard for some reason.
When Adam came down the stairs he looked at the new people. He muttered nothing as he put on a black, Under Armor shirt. His black jeans clung tightly to his legs paired with some black Vans. I was dressed somewhat alike. My black crop-top fit loosely around my shape. My black leggings clung tightly to me. On my feet there were black combat boots.
"Woah, why are you guys dressed in all black. You look like you're about to kick some serious ass," Elizabeth asked us.
"It's our ass-kicking gear. We wear it when there's a serious mission or whatever," I started waving it off slightly.
"Stop cussing," Adam said smacking me on the nape of my neck.
"Then can I borrow some clothes," she said motioning to her outfit of dark blue jeans and an SNK Scouting Legion shirt. I nodded motioning her to follow me so it won't get torn.
I went into my closet and handed her a black camisole with another pair of black leggings. We needed to take her shopping for some ass kicking gear.
When we walked downstairs into the living room we were greeted by Adam's assholish comments.
"We have to go kill a demon so you go and play dress up, what is wrong with girls," he said sighing. I can hear the faith in humanity leaving him slowly.
"Do you hear that,"I asked looking at him shocked. When he shook his head I answered. "It's the sound of me trying to give a fuck. Notice how it's silent. That means I'm failing miserably, and I apologize for that. Yeah, no, not really, get your pretty boy ass in the fucking truck and let's ride out,"I said opening the door.
As we drove to the house I saw the trees. Most were weeping silently in the wind. Others pleaded for us to turn back before it was too late. While riding down the road a house was seen about a block away. The house screamed Silent Hill fuel.
We parked a block away and walked up to the house carefully. Small flashes of light could be seen. When I opened the door everything was a mix of greens, blues, and purples. Just like in my dream, everything was distorted. My legs seemed more distant. The walls seemed to be nonexistent. The floor was an idea.
This was the place not to be high in. As we made our way up the stairs there was a door still made of old wood. It was decrepit. The only difference between the dream and reality was the amount of people with me.
I opened the door slowly and walked in. She had the stature of a child. Her red eyes pierced the soul of Satan. Her jaw unhinged with a month full of razor sharp teeth. Elizabeth started walking around her with her guard up.
The girls eyes followed Elizabeth carefully.
"We can help you go to heaven without being ugly as all fucking hell," the girl jumped at Elizabeth and tackled her.
I looked at Adam and made eye contact. I made sure he comprehended my words.
"It wasn't me who died in that dream. It was Elizabeth. We need to help her before that bitch takes Angel String to her arms and stomps hey leg," I said grabbing the salt pack and scriptures from Adam's pockets.
I tried to run over to Elizabeth, but there was Angel String threatening to cut my throat. As I looked at Elizabeth she was trying to pry the demon's hands from her neck. Shit, I was running out of time.
"Elizabeth trust me and close your eyes," I yelled at her. I threw the salt like anyone would throw their holy water. Elizabeth caught it started throwing some on the demon.
When the Filli Malum was backed into a corner, Adam ran past me taking the scriptures and cutting the string. I saw Adam seal off a corner of the room with the salt and place the scriptures on the walls.
Just then I remembered Elizabeth. I ran to her and looked to see if she was alright. Lucky for the both of us, her arms were still attached and her leg wasn't stomped.
I looked over at Adam reciting scriptures. The room was getting brighter. We needed to go now.
As I saw the young girl disintegrating I grabbed Adam's arm and left with the rest. This building was supposed to be destroyed years ago, if we didn't get out in time we were dead meat.
Everyone sprinted down the stairs and through the house until the door was in view. Adam was in front of me and threw open the door. As we ran to the truck the crumpling of wood could be heard. Nothing was safe. Adam lit a Zippo and threw it to the house.
When everyone was in the truck, Adam threw it in reverse and stomped his foot on the gas. The adrenaline obviously coursing through his veins along with everyone else's.
It didn't take long to get back home when Adam drove like a mad man. When we did get home; however, a proposal was made.
"You two stay with us and assist on missions," Adam offered.
Mark was shocked and so was everyone else. Adam actually did like people. That cold hearted, asshole liked people. When Elizabeth picked her mouth up, she agreed. I took her back over to her mom's house to get her things. She only took her clothes and some pictures.
When we got back she immediately unpacked her things in a guest bedroom. While we were talking she hung up her clothes. This was her new home.
"Hey Esria, one question," she stated more than asked.
"Go ahead then."
"Didn't Adam look hot in his ass-kicking gear," she said as if he wasn't in the same household.
"No," I said laughing it off," there will be no talk like that in this house. You are not allowed to fall in love with a G.A, It's Angel Law," I said shaking my head. I felt bad but I had to shoot her dreams of love with an angel down now. It was unacceptable.
"Oh. But why," she asked.
"God finds it unacceptable, and when a G.A and human fall in love, their minds are clouded with lust and cannot focus on the mission properly," I said stating the facts.
She has to learn not to love someone before it costs her. Losing an arm and a leg would be the least of her worries. Losing a soul or two would be the right measurement.
