Chapter 15: Trap Set

[B/n's point of view]

Y/n: "Hey, B/n! Look at this movie playing in theaters right now!"
She held up the newspaper.
B/n: "Why are you reading the newspaper?"
I ask not to be suspicious. I saw that movie this morning and left it on that page hoping she'd see it.
Y/n: "I just noticed it. It's not like I was reading it or anything. Doesn't it look interesting?"
B/n: "What, the newspaper?"
Y/n: "No, Stupid, the movie."
B/n: "No. Go get someone else to watch it with you. It looks boring."
Y/n: "Whatever."
I already told Shouko about which movie I figured she'd want to see, so I guess I gotta leave the rest of the plan up to her.

~Timeskip after school~

[Shouko's point of view]

Shouko: 'Y/n, do you want to see (movie name) with me?'
Y/n: "I want to see that movie, too. It looks fun, right?"
I nod.
Shouko: 'Let's ask Shousuke if he wants to come, too.'
Y/n: "Great idea!" She runs up our stairs to Shousuke's room. "Shousuke! Want to see a movie with Shouko and I?!"
She danced with excitement outside Shousuke's door. Shousuke came out.
Shousuke: "...Okay."
Y/n: "Yay!"
She gave Shousuke a squeeze. Shousuke's face washed over with a heavy blush. Imagine how he'll react when he finds out it's just the two of them going to the movie together.
Y/n: "I can't wait to go with you guys! Do you want to go after school tomorrow?"
I nod and so does Shousuke. It's settled. Now, for an excuse not to go.

~Timeskip to the next day~

[Y/n's point of view]

*Ding* I looked down at my phone.

Shouko's Text: 'Sorry, I can't make it to see the movie. Todano, Najimi, Agari, and I are going to Nita diner. They invited me last minute. I hope you don't mind. You and Shousuke should go without me.'

I'm outside the school with Shousuke.
Y/n: "Looks like Shouko can't make it. She accidentally made some plans with some other people. I'm so glad she's making friends though! She had a tough time last year." I look over and see a gloomy aura coming from Shousuke. "We can still go together if you want."
His eyes looked up at me.
Shousuke: "Can we really?" he asks in a hopeful voice.
Y/n: "Yeah. I wouldn't say so if we couldn't."

[No one's point of view]

Shousuke practically radiated happiness as he walked with Y/n to the theater. They bought tickets and some popcorn and drinks and walked into the theater together.

[Y/n's point of view]

Y/n: "That was so much fun! The movie was really good. My brother doesn't know what he's talking about."
Shousuke gives me a questioning look.
Y/n: "Oh, he said it looked boring, so he didn't want to come watch it with me."
Shousuke nodded in understanding.
Y/n: "It's almost dinner time. Do you wanna get something to eat?"
Shousuke's stomach growls, and his face turns bright red. I burst out laughing.
Y/n: "Hahaha, guess that's a 'yes' then! Come on! Where should we go? WcDonald's is close by."
He nods, still rosy cheeked.
When we got there, I got (favorite fast food other than tacos, 'cause this ain't Burrito Bell) and Shousuke got a burger and fries. After eating, we got ice cream. Shousuke got chocolate and I got (favorite ice cream flavor). We walked to the park with our ice cream and sat down on a park bench, looking at the birds and squirrels in the trees.
Y/n: "Hey, Shousuke!" I say in a singsong voice. I steal a bite of his ice cream. "You better protect your ice cream better than that if you expect to have it all to yourself!"

[Shousuke's point of view]

...Did she... Did she just... That's an indirect kiss! My face is growing redder by the second. What do I do?! I'm frozen in place.
Y/n: "Here! Have some of mine."
She holds up to my face. I have a bite. I can't believe I... I just... My brain feels completely fried. I can feel the plumes of smoke coming off my head.

[Y/n's point of view]

We're heading back now.
Y/n: "Today was so fun! I wish it didn't have to end!"
Shousuke nods.
Y/n: "We'll have to do this again sometime. Maybe we could go to an arcade next time!"
He nods.
Y/n: "Bye Shousuke! See you tomorrow!"
I give him a quick hug and wave goodbye. As I jog over to my house, I look back once to see a very happy Shousuke as he went inside his house. Are those flowers around his head? Whatever. Today was great!

[B/n's point of view]

Once Y/n got home, Mom asked,
Mrs. L/n: "So, how was today?"
Y/n: "Great! Shouko couldn't come though. Shousuke and I watched that movie I told you about, then we got some WcDonald's and ice cream."
It's great she had a good time with Shousuke, but come on Shousuke! Confess already!
