Chapter 19: Inviting

[Y/n's point of view]

   Y/n: "Morning sleepyhead!"
   Shousuke groans and rolls over.
   Y/n: "Hurry up! You're gonna be late for school!"
   Shousuke: "Why are you here so early?" he said in a groggy voice.
   Y/n: "That's what I'm trying to tell you! I'm not! You slept through your alarm, so hurry up!"
   Shousuke: "...what?" He's still confused after getting up. It's kinda cute, but we don't have time for this!
   Y/n: "We're gonna have to run to school if you don't get up right now!"
   He sighs and gets out of bed. I get out so he can get ready. I go downstairs to prepare his breakfast for him to have on the go. I put it all in a bento box for him. He has scrambled eggs, toast, and fruit. After a few minutes, he came down.
   Y/n: "Come on! I've got your breakfast! Let's go!"
   He puts on his shoes and jacket, then we go.
   Y/n: "Here's your breakfast."
   Shousuke: "Mmn."
   He grabs it and starts eating.

[Shousuke's point of view]

   Y/n: "So, Shouko invited me to karaoke with her friends today. She said you and B/n could come, too. Do you want to come?"
   I nod.
   Anything sounds fun as long as she's there.
   Y/n: "So after school, We'll go to my house to ask B/n if he wants to come. Then we can go to the karaoke box. Is that all right?"
   Shousuke: "Mmhmm."
   We're almost at school now.
   Y/n: "So what were you doing last night?"
   Shousuke: "Hmm?"
   I feel my cheeks start to get warmer. I stayed up last night because I was thinking about her and played video games to get her off my mind, pretty unsuccessfully actually, but there's no way I can tell her that!
   Y/n: "Don't 'Hmm?' me. You never sleep through your alarm! So, what were you doing?"
   Shousuke: "Nothing."
   Y/n: "I bet you couldn't sleep, so you stayed up playing video games all night."
   Shousuke: "N-no!" How did she know?
   Y/n: "Oh?" she smirked.
   Shousuke: "Well, not all night."
   Y/n: "Aha! So you did play video games 'til late!"
   I huff. She's so annoying sometimes.

[Y/n's point of view]

   Y/n: "I bet you couldn't sleep, so you stayed up playing video games all night."
   Shousuke: "N-no!"
   His ears turned cherry red.
   Y/n: "Oh?" Liar.
   Shousuke: "Well, not all night." he grumbled.
   Y/n: "Aha! So you did play video games 'til late!"
  He huffs in annoyance. I burst out laughing. He's hilarious! He starts to pout with red cheeks.
   Y/n: "Cheer up, Shousuke! No need to be all sour about it."
   He huffs again. Well, I guess I have to use my new secret weapon. I stop and start to pet the top of his head. His cat ears pop up and I scratch him behind the ears. He tries to act like he doesn't like it, but fails after about one second and melts. He leans into it, and he even almost falls over. I stop.
   Y/n: "Alright, we got to get to school." I say, tussling his hair.

[Shousuke's point of view]

   Y/n: "...No need to be all sour about it."
   I huff. She's so annoying sometimes. How did she even- Huh? Why is she petting my head? Even if she pets me, I'm still annoyed. I won't just forget if she- Have mercy! That feels so good! I lean in a little. Whoa! I leaned in a bit too far!
   Y/n: "Alright, we got to get to school."
   Right. Now, what was I just thinking about?... Maybe I'll remember later. I follow her to school.

~After school~

   Y/n: "Ready?"
   Shousuke: "Mmn."
   Y/n: "Remember, we have to stop at my house to ask my brother if he wants to come. 'Kay?"
   Shousuke: "Mmhmm."
   We grab our things and head to Y/n's house.
   Y/n: "Hey, should we stop by your place on the way to mine?"
   Why? I give her a quizzical look.
   Y/n: "So you can change out of your uniform. I was planning on doing the same."
   Shousuke: "Sure."
   Y/n: "Okay! Hey! Maybe if Shouko's still there we can walk with her to the Karaoke Box together!"
   It's so cute how she gets so excited over little things. Her bunny ears are even out. Cute!
   I chuckle.
   Y/n: "What?! Are you laughing at me?"
   Shousuke: "It's nothing." I failed to say without smiling.
   Y/n: "What'd I do?!"
   Shousuke: "I just... Nevermind."
   Y/n: "Don't 'nevermind' me! What did I do?!"
   Shousuke: "I just thought it was funny that you get so excited over little stuff."
   Y/n: "Oh." she said, sounding sad and embarrassed.
   What did I do?! Is this my fault? I made her upset. How do I fix this?
