it was our first Christmas together.
we decorated the tree with lights,
I decorated your neck with kisses.
we filled our tummy's with pie,
I filled your mouth with sighs.
it was our first Christmas together.
dancing around the kitchen along to our favourite songs.
the drinks kept on flowing all night long.
but when the song ends, and i notice you're gone,
I look around, as my lagging vision blends
and that's when I see you again.
lent against the door with mistletoe in hand.
holding it up high, god, you look so grand.
you pull me close.
swing me round and back down as I try to steady my land.
your lips meet mine and In that moment we both know my hearts no longer mine.
instead, it's yours, to tie back together with twine.
it was our first Christmas together.
and i will remember it forever.
