as the summer heat disappears, the gentle breeze of nightfall began to creep its way to our bare skin.
we shivered and the space between us closed,
a natural instinct of the body to keep warm.
I had my eyes closed, taking in the earths midsummer scent, when I heard you gasp.
I turned to you, your face lit up, your eye's glistening, but I wasn't sure what from.
I followed your gaze which lead to the sky, the stars, the abyss.
sure, it was beautiful but... nothing in comparison to the one beside me.
the stars tried their best, but i couldn't look away from you.
I know we both felt it.
no words had to be spoken, for the moment said it all.
