Chapter 18

Folding up the papers and putting them in my pocket I made my way out of Dumbledore's office and to the Gryffindor common room.

I put my things away, my new found 'friends' in a special box that requires a specific spell from me and one of my finger prints or it wont open. Not only that if someone tried to use any magic on it, it will shrink and appear in my pocket no matter where I am.

I had packed a bowl and grabbed one of my duplicated flasks and now I was headed out to the forbidden forest to relax.

I know it sounds weird, how can a dark creepy forest be relaxing. But to me it is, it doesn't freak me out at all, but then again I am strange.

As soon as I was in the cover of the trees I pulled out my flask and started drinking, and once I got deep enough in that no one would stumble upon me I started smoking.

Once I finished smoking I made my bowl and flask appear in my box in my room and walked out of the forest to go to the great hall for dinner.

Yeah dinner, I spent that long unpacking and doing illegal things.

I walked into the great hall, everyone was here weather they left for Christmas break or not. I sighed and started walking to a secluded part of the Gryffindor table and tapped my glass, making it fill with mountain dew.

Then I started pilling things onto my plate, and dug in. when I smoke I get the munchies really bad, so I was eating like a pig but I didn't care.

Before long people had noticed that I was here and Harry, Hermione, Ron, Fred, George, Viktor, Cedric and surprisingly Charlie came and sat around me.

"hello Marley" Fred and George chorused as they sat down and I nodded at them to say hi back.

I heard Charlie sigh before I felt a hand grip my chin forcing me to stop chewing the chicken that was in my mouth. My head was turned towards Charlie and tilted up, he looked in my eyes searching. For what I'm not completely sure, but he sighed so I guess he either didn't find it or he did and it was something he didn't want to see. I shrugged and continued chewing.

"Marley, you told me you were going to stop." He said and I swallowed "I lied." I deadpanned and took a swig of my mountain dew.

"stop what?" the twins asked curious and Charlie sighed before looking at me as if asking permission to tell them, I shrugged. I honestly didn't care if they knew or not.

"while she was away, Marley decided that the pain of Ashley cheating on her and her friends betrayal wasn't worth feeling. So she found a way to numb it." He told them and this time it was Viktor who spoke, "and how is she doing that?"

"she started drinking, a lot, and smoking pot along with cigarettes, a lot too. So where is it? Your stash?" he asked as he turned to me and I shrugged. "she has also taken to not talking unless absolutely necessary. It doesn't matter who you are, she won't talk to me or even her parents, or the one of her friends back home that she isn't pissed at." He explained before anyone could question why I haven't said more then two word since they sat down.

"how is Iliana?" he questioned attempting to get me to speak, I just rolled my eyes and pulled her out from my hood. I set her on the table but she, sensing my mood is still foul, jumped from the table onto my shoulder and curled around my neck, nuzzling me to try to make me feel better.

"good girl." I told her hoarsely and pulled a piece of raw steak that had just appeared on the table and held it up for her. She squawked, her baby version of an adult dragon noise, and nipped it out of my fingers.  

"so she's good then." Charlie observed and I rolled my eyes, taking another drink from my cup I stood up and walked away officially done with that conversation.

I had to get to class anyways, so that's where I went. When I reached the potions classroom I sat in the front, knowing that none of my friends would be brave enough to sit this close to Snape during class.

When the other students filed in I got a bunch of curious glances, they were all wondering why I sat up front. Usually no one sat in the front of the class unless they were the last ones in.

Eventually class started and Snape stood in between the rows of desks, "today you will be brewing the luminaty potion. Does anyone know what this brew is used for?" he asked and no one raised their hands, "miss black?" he asked and I rolled my eyes.

"its used to enter someone's dreams and manipulate them to see whatever memory you wish to see." I told him in monotone and he nodded, "very good, now you will brew this and we will test it on your partners." He said and when everyone was working he came up to me.

"since you have no partner I will be testing your potion. I will enter your dreams, not the other way around." He told me then turned on his heel and strode away.

I got to work on the potion, brewing it carefully so I wouldn't mess it up.

Once class was over Snap stood up, "I will summon you after dinner tonight, and one by one you will test your potions. If I don't get to you today you will do it tomorrow, in class or after dinner." He told everyone and we all filed out to finish our day.
