The muse of your dreams stood at the front of the class and your thoughts were, for the first time, noisy, as a youth you didn't recognize came rushing into your mind.
The image of his hands flashed before you.
"I learned sign for you, see?"
A wide and proud grin on his face.
"Aren't you a smart girl? I'll put it on the fridge!"
Gentle guidance.
"See, if you control your emotions, you'll have more control over how much energy you use. See, your plant is smaller!"
You stared at his hands as they raised in front of his chest, seeing the erratic movements of his hands, messy but genuine, with the frequent flexing and unflexing of his fingers that was rather gentle looking for how roughly the voice in your head sounded.
Maki glanced at you, noticing you expression, which looked almost hurt with how confused you seemed.
"Good morning, first years!" Gojo greeted, making Panda, Toge, and Maki flinch from his volume. "Since you guys signed up for our special course taught in sign language, you will be stuck with me, Satoru Gojo, all year! Aren't you special?"
Maki's eye twitched, regret washing over her.
"Now, just to lay some ground rules: I don't want any of you to get expelled or anything, so you'll have to keep your average grade above 60%. Shouldn't be too hard, right? This doesn't necessarily apply when it comes to people who were accepted from excelling at a certain subject; you just have to do good in the subject that got you accepted then! Lucky you."
His eyes settled on Toge, then on you.
"The only subject that you won't have with me is gym, but you won't be having it for a little while since our last gym teacher was an absolute creep!"
The four of you gave him an incredulous stare, unsure what to make of his enthusiasm over a creep in the school.
"I'll be giving you two forms: one for gym, which doesn't really have a due date, and where you put all your contacts: your parents, your emergency contact, your address, and all that stuff. You can sign the second one right now. I hate doing stuff on the first day."
He handed a light purple form to the four of you, the span of your desks only about two of his steps.
You recalled your parents' contact and work contacts from the sticky note on the fridge, which had "ONLY FOR EMERGENCIES" written in red pen and big letters across the top. You contemplated putting Tsumiki's mother's contact in the emergency contact, but since she barely answers her phone when Tsumiki calls her, you put Suguru's.
As Gojo collected them, he stopped on your paper, his eyes widening slightly like you had just put something horrid on your paper.
The other three glanced at you, wondering what peculiar thing you could've scribbled out to make Gojo's face drop in such a way.
He tucked it under everyone else's as if its contents were offensive and he threw the pile on his desk. "Alright, I'll be going through the course syllabus and hopefully that lasts the entire class before lunch because I haven't made class plans for today!"
