13 | A Strong Healer

The sound of the clock ticking filled the room, unbeknownst to you, and you stared at the ceiling of the lab. Another failed attempt to figure out what was going on with Tsumiki, noted in your head. It wasn't like you could test things on her the same way you tested things on small curses that Gojo brought back to you as some form of a grotesque gift.

You stood from your chair, shrugging off the lab coat that Shoko gave you for when you were in the lab or infirmary, and placed it on the chair you were sitting on.

Maybe I'll go see what Maki and Yuta are doing.

The ground suddenly shook violently, making beakers and jaws fall off the shelves and tables, shattering onto the ground.

What the-

You ran out the door and towards the school, your eyes going to the sky, which was masked by a large curtain draped over the entire school. What is happening?

You burst through the doors of your classroom, finding Yuta there, but not Maki. You put your hearing aids in. "Are you okay?"

"Y-Yeah... what's going on?"

"I think the school's being attacked." You took his arm and pulled him out of the classroom. "We need to find Maki, then try and figure out a way to leave the curtain."

"The what?"

"See the tint that's on the sky right now? That's cursed energy. You can see it because you're a sorcerer, but non-sorcerers aren't able to. It's meant to hide our existence by concealing what's going on within the curtain to outsiders."

"Is this related to-"

"Yes, the man that declared war a few weeks ago is probably behind this. That's why he waited until Gojo wasn't here, I bet."

"Plummet!"

You heard the familiar voice and stopped. "Toge!"

You let go of Yuta and followed the sound and he stayed at your heel.

Loud rumbles and quakes sounded through the air and you pulled out your hearing aids, expecting a fight. You found a hole in the walls that surrounded a clearing you knew some people used as training grounds and you ran through, stopping in your tracks when you saw the damage.

The stone path was destroyed, blood and cracks scattered and splattered throughout the area.

Yuta slowly stepped in front of you as the two of you were met with the man that had waged war on Jujutsu society: Suguru Geto.

Toge, Panda, Maki, they lied, splayed across the asphalt and stone, blood pooling beneath them.

You ran to Toge, lifting his head gently, and his lips moved but you couldn't hear the words he was saying.

"Yuta...!" you sobbed.

Yuta's eyes were wide, so wide you could see every ounce of anger that seeped from his soul and into his tears. The ominous, poisonous presence that he had when you first met him was engulfing him.

"Come out, RIKA!"

The ground quaked once more and a horrid being emerged behind him, inches of sharp teeth in its mouth, claws that could grab you like a bird, a pale monster that stood behind him, as if a protector.

It suddenly sped towards you and you were surrounded by darkness for moments before being released once again at a balcony.

You put in your hearing aids and knelt in front of your three injured classmates.
