The state tournament

Today is a significant day for Y/n, her team, and Inarizaki—it's the state tournament, a chance to reach nationals and fulfill their dreams. The girls' and boys' teams set off around 5:15 AM. While they rode in separate buses, that didn't stop Y/n and Suna from chatting, giggling, and exchanging compliments. Only the setters from both teams noticed this, while the others kept to themselves. Atsumu was proud to see Suna making a new friend (or maybe a crush), while Akiko, the female team's setter, enjoyed watching Y/n blush and respond shyly to Suna's flattery. This playful banter continued until they arrived at their destination around 8:30 AM.

As soon as the bus stopped, the teams disembarked. Y/n was the last to leave, and as she stepped down, she saw Suna offering her a hand with a sweet smile. She smiled back, and they walked together towards their teams. Once inside the tournament gym, they immediately felt the weight of curious stares—most of them directed at Y/n, who was undeniably beautiful. Sensing this, Suna leaned in and teased, "Looks like Ms. Inarizaki is popular even outside of school." Y/n shot him a playful 'NO, STOP IT' look as she joined her teammates, leaving Suna to catch up with the boys.

Their first task was to assess their opponents. The girls were up against Kukuoka School's team, with their match scheduled for 11:45 AM. With some time to spare, Akiko invited Y/n to explore the area, and she eagerly accepted. Akiko wanted to shop for her mom's birthday gift, so they headed to the nearest mall. Y/n picked out a muffler for her dad. After leaving the gift shop, they spotted a cute accessory store next door. Y/n wanted to buy some earrings, so they went inside.

As they entered, they bumped into two boys. They all apologized and bowed, and when they looked up, familiar faces greeted them. Y/n wore a blank expression, while Akiko exclaimed, "What a coincidence! Atsumu... and Suna, right?" She smiled at the boys and nudged Y/n, who grinned back. Suna smiled at Akiko, then at Y/n, and she couldn't help but feel butterflies in her stomach. Love was certainly in the air. The setters sensed this connection and concocted excuses to leave Y/n alone with Suna.

"What are you shopping for?" Suna asked, avoiding eye contact. Y/n replied, "I'm looking for some cute earrings. I love accessorizing." "Oh, I'm here for some ear cuffs. Want to shop together?" he suggested, and Y/n nodded, a hint of excitement in her eyes.

Time Skip: First Match

Both teams lined up and bowed. It was Y/n's first official match as a member of Inarizaki. Though she felt a bit nervous, confidence surged within her. The match kicked off with loud cheers from the audience. Kukuoka School won the toss and chose to serve first. The players took their positions, with Y/n in the back row. The Kukuoka Ace stepped up to serve, delivering a jump serve that was received by their libero, Kiyo. Kiyo passed it to Akiko, who set the ball for Y/n. Y/n jumped and executed a cross-shot, scoring the first point for Inarizaki.

Next up was Fumiko, their Ace. The team cheered her on: "Nice serve!" Fumiko jumped and unleashed a powerful blow. "No-touch ace!" their team shouted as she scored. The set ended quickly, with Inarizaki taking it without any trouble.

The next set began with more cheers. Y/n was serving this time, aiming for the opposing team's middle blocker, who struggled with receptions. She took a deep breath, tossed the ball, and delivered a fierce spike. The middle blocker didn't even move, granting Inarizaki their first point of the set. Y/n stepped back for her next serve, encouraged by her teammates shouting "Mo ippai!" This motivation propelled her to earn 11 points solely through her serving. With a significant 7-point lead, Y/n's powerful serves helped Inarizaki win the set and, ultimately, the match.

Thanks to their victory, Inarizaki advanced to the second round, winning easily and reaching the quarterfinals & eventually to the semi-finals without any major challenges.
