Destination
It had only been a few weeks since Y/n and Suna officially started dating, and they quickly became the most talked-about couple at school. Comments like "Imagine dating a goddess," "Oh, I wish I were him," and "He's so lucky" became a daily occurrence. Their school life revolved around study sessions, dates, and volleyball practices, and they had grown incredibly fond of each other. Walking hand in hand, cuddling at home, and acting adorably around each other—everything felt perfect. However, they sometimes had to cancel dates due to the Spring Tournament. Neither of them minded too much, as they still practiced together. As time passed, they agreed to hold off on dates until the tournament was over since it was almost January.
"I know, Rin, but you really shouldn't be."
"I should; I could have just waited until the nationals are over."
"What you did was good for both of us. We'll have plenty of time for dates after the tournament."
"Maybe, I don't know. But if you're okay with it, then I am too."
"I'm fine with whatever you decide. I'll support you no matter what."
"I know; thanks, hun."
Both the boys' and girls' teams lined up facing their coaches. They were heading to Tokyo that day, with the arrival scheduled for the next noon. The teams shared a single bus, with the boys seated on the right and the girls on the left. Y/n and Suna sat across from each other, while Akiko and Atsumu took the window seats. It was a long journey, so the four of them decided to play Ludo on their phones, sharing snacks as they enjoyed the ride. After eating, they took naps, since it was already around 11 PM.
The next morning, Y/n was the first to wake up. She poked Akiko to stop her snoring—who knew Akiko snored? Y/n was the first to find out. Turning to the boys' side, she saw Suna looking perfect even in sleep, while Atsumu drooled on his shirt. It was too funny a moment to pass up, so she quietly took out her phone and snapped a picture. Giggling at the photo, she was caught off guard when Suna asked, "What are you chuckling about?"
"Just couldn't help myself. It was too funny!"
"Tsumu always sleeps with his mouth open. Osamu told me that's why they don't share a room anymore."
"Lmao, those brothers are something else."
"You bet."
Rin and Y/n chatted until they heard the coach's alarm. They put on their eye masks and pretended to sleep until the coach called them to wake up. As they neared their destination, excitement mixed with nervousness filled the bus. The coach motivated them, reminding them how hard they had worked for this day.
"Give it your best out there!"
"Hai, Sensei!"
The bus arrived an hour ahead of schedule. A traditional Japanese hotel awaited them, where they dropped off their bags in shared rooms before heading out. They had enough time to practice and check out their opponents. The stadium was just a two-minute walk away. They rushed to the notice board outside the stadium to see they would be facing Onita Girls' Academy in their first match, scheduled for 2:30 PM. They also planned to watch the boys' match, starting in half an hour.
"Rin, your match starts in five minutes, and you're here eating onigiri with him?"
"Don't worry, babe, I'll be fine. Stop stressing. And Mr. 'Him' has a name," she replied, while Osamu shot a glare at Y/n before taking another bite of his onigiri.
"I know, but how can you not be stressed right now?"
"Chill, hun. Everything's okay."
"NO, IT ISN'T! LOOK AT THE TIME!" I exclaimed, grabbing his hand and pulling him toward the stadium, with Samu following.
"And now we have Inarizaki High School from Hyogo Prefecture," announced the speaker as Kita opened the door, Suna and Samu lining up at the back.
Thank goodness we made it on time; he didn't even seem to care that he could have missed playing the first match of the nationals. I thought to myself, how is he so calm and collected? My thoughts were interrupted by Fumiko calling out my last name as she led me to the audience section.
"What were you up to, Y/n?"
"Nothing much; just got caught up in my thoughts."
"AND AS MIYAS, THEY MANAGE TO EARN ANOTHER FABULOUS QUICK, WINNING THE SET!" shouted the announcer, drawing our focus back to the game.
"Well, let's not dwell on that anymore, I guess," I replied.
