Author’s POV
After reaching the hospital, Roshni walked inside, followed by Sara and Arsalan. As they entered, they were greeted by a furious Samaira. If she were a cartoon character, steam would’ve been blowing out of her ears.
"Why did you come with Arsalan Sir, Sara? Don’t you know he’s our M.D.? Don’t hover around him like a moth,” she said, gritting her teeth behind a fake smile.
"This is not the way to talk, Dr. Chowdhary,” Arsalan intervened sternly. “And you absolutely can't speak to Dr. Sara like this—”
Sara signaled him to stop. “Oh Samaira,” she began with a saccharine smile, “Don’t worry. I’m not using your copyright. I don’t hover around anyone, especially not Dr. Arsalan.”
Samaira’s face turned red—either from anger or embarrassment. Maybe both. Roshni grinned. Arsalan looked amused.
Samaira opened her mouth to retort, but Roshni cut in.
“Oh? And what about your brother, who hovers around Sara like a moth?”
Sara shook her head at Roshni, signaling her to stop, but it was too late. Arsalan, meanwhile, looked mildly alarmed at this new information about Sara’s admirer.
“You! How dare you talk about my brother like that?” Samaira snapped. “I’ve told him many times to stay away from her, but that fool is too in love to see her real face! Innocent on the outside, but quick to stick to anyone with money. You ignored my brother because he’s not the rich M.D., right? Trying to catch a bigger fish?”
Sara stayed calm, but Roshni’s eyes blazed. “Look,” she said firmly, “I’m sorry, Samaira. I shouldn’t have brought up your brother. That was uncalled for, and I’m ready to apologise. But you do not get to insult Sara like that. I won’t let anyone disrespect her.”
Arsalan clenched his fists. Sara, quiet and composed, locked eyes with Samaira. The intensity made her flinch, but she didn’t show it.
“What? Can’t take the truth?” Samaira said mockingly. “Let me remind you—the truth is always bitter—”
“JUST STOP IT, SAMAIRA!” a voice roared.
It was Rehan. He looked absolutely livid.
“That’s enough! Living with Father has made you spoilt and disrespectful. Do you hear yourself? How can you say such vile things about another woman? I’m ashamed of you.”
He turned to Sara. “I’m sorry, Dr. Sara. I truly am. Please forgive her.” He joined his hands.
“No, sir, please don’t do that!” Sara said quickly, gently unfolding his hands. “It’s not your fault. Please don’t embarrass me.”
“She wasn’t the one at fault. Someone else should be apologising,” Roshni said pointedly, glaring at Samaira.
“Roshni, leave it. It’s enough. Go to your cabin, now,” Sara said firmly. She shot one last glare at Samaira and walked away.
Arsalan turned to Samaira. His voice was like steel. “Dr. Chowdhary, this will be the last time you speak to Dr. Sara—or anyone—like that. I don’t care who your father is. You will not disrespect my staff. Consider this your final warning. Am I clear?”
Samaira nodded meekly, whispering a “sorry.”
“Everyone else—show’s over. Get back to work,” Arsalan ordered, dispersing the crowd.
Sara gave Arsalan a reassuring glance. He nodded and returned to his cabin. Sara offered a small smile to Rehan before heading to her own.
Meanwhile, Rehan dragged Samaira into his cabin.
