Aria
Bentley and I were laying on her floor talking. She was tossing a ball in the air and catching it while I read a magazine on some of the latest up and coming artist this decade. Well I wasn't reading it, I was just admiring the art pieces but, it's very similar. "I told you if you had just talked to her it would all work out." last night we hadn't really talked about it at all, but this afternoon she had asked if I was still upset with Emory. I had just finished telling her about yesterday.
"Yeah, I know, that's why I waited to tell you, because I knew you were gonna say "I told you so." And you're kind of annoying when you're right." I say the last part jokingly and it's about a second before I hear her laugh and a pillow knocks the magazine out of my hands. I look at her shocked, "you threw a pillow at me!?"
She laughs again and I do too, "you were being mean." I roll my eyes and she picks up my magazine, looking at it herself. We both love art, it was one of the first things we bonded over when we became friends. I picked up one of her other magazines, "ancient ship wrecks", sitting in one of the many stacks of books and magazines scattered throughout her room. "You know, Emory is really pretty though."
I put the magazine down crunching my face up as I look at her, "gross, don't even think about it. You are not dating my sister."
"Ptsh, what?" Her voice gets slightly squeaky, "I wasn't even..." She trails off as I raise my eyebrows. "But she has really pretty eyes and she smells so nice."
She whines and I look at her confused and slightly shocked, "when did you smell her?!"
Her face pals, "what I didn't, okay when we met yesterday for like a brief second I could smell her. It wasn't creepy or anything."
I watch her for a second longer before picking the magazine back up, "it's a little creepy."
"No more creepy then when you saved Henry's gum wrapper," she responds back.
"He folded it into a tiny crane, that's normal." I defend myself.
"Yeah and then he gave it to Sare Hugsbee who threw it away." Okay so maybe digging it out if the trash was a little creepy.
"Fine you have a point, but your still not dating my sister, besides I think she has a boyfriend or something." I waver my hand in non chalance as I think about the phone call if over heard the other night.
"No I don't come back for another two weeks.... Yeah we definitely have to do something." She giggles "no that wasn't me that was Kristen Kenyas idea and she was the one that fell in the puddle." I look over at Emory, who's laying on her bed, talking on the phone.
It was 9:40, and I knew any minute now mom and dad where gonna come in and tell us we needed to get ready for bed. I was honestly dreading when they did, because if they made her hang up, then there was no way she wasn't going to start a fight. "Yeah, I think so, ... Yeah I know," her tone drops "it'll be three years.... I wish I could be there with you."
Then our father walked in, "hey Emory, you wanna take your phone call down stairs while Aria gets ready for bed."
With that, she nodded and left the room.
After that's we got into a argument over how it wasn't fair that she didn't have to go to bed until 10:30 and I had too at 10:00. It ended with my father stating that I need to negotiate better next time and that was it. I mean the conversation didn't necessarily mean that she had a boyfriend, but I know I heard her call him Bret, and tell him to stop acting like a stupid boy at one point, plus the three year thing kind of sounded like an anniversary.
