The door opened and what greeted me was a pair of hollow eyes. He didn't look better. I frowned.

"What are you doing here?" He dead on asked in a tired voice from obvious lack of sleep.

"I forgot to give you your jacket."

"Oh."

"Here,"

...

He was going to close the door when I stopped him, "Okay okay. I lied."

He sighed.

"I'm here to make sure you are okay," I said as I looked right into his eyes, all the while while trying to read his movements.

"I'm fine," he said but it was more like he was trying to convince himself.

I said nothing but it was enough to make him snapped. He was quiet for a second but I knew it was the calm before the storms. He was angry and frustrated. The depth of his eyes showed he was livid and he was only a few seconds away from letting out the intense anger he so long had kept supressed in the roots of his soul.

"Here's the deal, I don't know okay. The truth is I don't know. I don't know. For a second it felt like I was going to be fine but then I feel empty. And dead. I feel empty and dead like I am nothing. I'm just a walking skeletons with too much load to carry on. And the knowing that I'm never going to be okay?"

He barked out a bitter laugh, "It makes me want to stop trying,"

"?!??!"

"It hurt didn't it? The pinch?"

"-good, it was meant to wake you up," I continued without giving him the chance to recover from his shock.

I searched for his eyes before I continued, "Listen. You are going to be fine. Maybe it still hurts. The truth is, it's going to haunt you. You can't never runaway from your past. But let me tell you, it's never what happen that determines your life and what you feel, it's what you think and how you see it that determines your reality. Don't let what happened control you because it's you who have the power to create your own reality. Not your past. Not someone else. It's you."

I brought my hands up to his cheeks, and as I stared right into the blue of his eyes, I was sure of one thing: he thought he was beyond repair.

"You're going to be okay. You just need to believe it too."
