This is the story of a girl. Abandoned as a child, and left to survive on her own in a growing city. She was thin, and filthy. She had long, silver hair that was matted and messy. Her skin was pale, with dark bruises and bright red scrapes on her exposed skin. The child was dressed in dirty rags with holes in them, tied together into an outfit. No one really paid her any mind while she wandered the streets, where she began to learn things a child shouldn't have to learn. She learned to take things while no one was looking, and get away before anyone caught her. After a few years of this life, the young girl has been caught many times, jailed, beaten, and chased around the city. She finally catches a break when the owner of an Herbal shop catches her stealing, and instead of hurting the girl or calling the authorities, the elderly woman offers to house the homeless child. Despite her protesting, the girl ended up staying with the old woman, and learned what it's like to have family, and love. Though unfortunately this life doesn't last forever, and the now teenage girl is thrown into another transition of her life. The city is attacked by a fleet of ships flying black flags, and many people died. Including the old woman who took in the main character. The girl however, escapes to the mountain north of the city, and stumbles upon something hidden within the mountain. A strange necklace, with a shiny gem attached to a bright silver plate and matching chain. The gem is an almost glowing electric blue, and rather than see through like most gems this one had an odd mix of clear and milky or opaque. The silver plate on the back of the gem had something engraved on it, but it wasn't in a language the main character could read. She takes the necklace, and keeps exploring, finding other artifacts and corridors. At the end of this strange dungeon, she finds a book. The cover of it is made of a thick black leather that almost felt like some kind of snake skin or something, and the pages are different sizes of parchment sheets cut up and tied into the book. She flips through the first few pages, and amazingly some kind of power projects into the large open room. The teenage main character receives this power, and along with it was something much darker. Within the odd book, was a spirit. The spirit was a dark, and angry being with a strange power. Strong, but strange. The abilities this entity holds rely on the darkness within its host's heart. While afraid of this entity, the teenage girl agreed to be the host, and gain immense power. With this power, and a fueled sense of revenge, the girl goes to find the fleet of ships that wrecked her home and killed her grandmother. Though by using the dark power that the book and its entity provides, the girl begins to trade her humanity and soul for this power. Finally she makes a deal with the book's entity to step into the power fully, and gain her own abilities, alongside the ones she already has getting stronger. Though this power comes at the price of her humanity, and she takes it, easily getting rid of that side of herself. Though an unexpected side effect of this deal gives the girl the ability to transform into a large black bird, with glowing pale blue eyes, to match the necklace she found in that dungeon. This can be the end of the first part of her story. Though the actual content of this story is barely what I described. The meat of this is really going to be the girl growing up with the old lady, and their story as a family. Then I'll destroy that happy moment with an attack by sea. I might write another one, about what happened once she's powerful and dark. This is pretty much just a villain origin story.
I might edit all of this and just post my edited chapters as I write.
