Chapter 24

[JENNIE's POV]

Morning came and I look like a wilted vegetable while cleaning the living room. I didn't sleep well thinking about what Lisa said last night. Does it mean, she will give the closure I requested? Why do I seem to be the one who is not ready for what will happen when we meet. Shouldn't I be relieved because finally we can have the closure we needed?

After all, what happened was a one sided decision, she did not agree to end our relationship. She even begged me not to leave her as long as she will fix the mistake she made that she thought she could still fix, especially when I heard that she got the girl she had a one night stand with pregnant.

I found out she impregnated someone two days before our graduation day. And the very next day, I left Korea for New Zealand, and lived there alone.

I am now preparing for the birthday celebration that I will go to in just a minute.

Carrying the not too big birthday gift for Mina's daughter, I sat in the living room for the meantime to wait for the person sent by Mina to pick me up. Thank goodness she said that her six-year-old daughter is the one celebrating a birthday, I almost bought five sets of baby clothes, because I thought the baby she brought to the mall was the one having a birthday.

Time passed, I heard my doorbell rang so I headed there, probably the one who's gonna pick me up.

“Good evening Ms. Jennie Kim. I'm here to pick you up” a good-looking tall man, stated.

“Just one second” I came back to the living room to get my mini bag and gift.

He get the gift from me.

“Can I states a fact?” He suddenly said when he started driving.

“Huh?” was just I said. He's looking at me at the rear mirror time to time. I'm at the back seat.

“I wanna say.... you're so beautiful. In the long time I've been serving the Son Family and to all the people I've picked up, you're the only one who I admired the beauty”

Is he trying to hit on me?

“Oh... Thank you” I awkwardly answer.

He didn't spoke the whole ride after our little conversation, 'til the car pull over in front of the hotel entrance.

He opened the door for me and then said something.

“I'm Kim Mingyu, by the way. Can I get your number? I'm free tomorrow” He smiles.

“Nice meeting you Mingyu. But I have a girlfriend”

‘Wait what? Girlfriend?’

“Oh girlfriend. Keep your love stronger then” I just smiled and then he guided me inside.

There aren't many people here on the ground floor, maybe the guests are already at the venue.

We reached the 5th floor, where the ceremony is being held tonight. Too many guests, wearing formal attire, maybe a board members, shareholders, staff celebrating its hotel's anniversary.

“Jennie!” I saw Mina approaching as she waves to me. “Thank you for coming” we hug each other.

“Has the party started yet?”

“Just started. I was really worried, I thought you wouldn't come”

“A bit traffic. But even though the event is over, I'm still going, I want to meet the birthday girl” She chuckles on what I said.
